| Chinese culture is created by Han and other minority nationalities. It has a long history of five thousand years! During the long process of development, each nationality has its own particular culture no matter it is a large or small nationality. All kinds of culture influence and infiltrate each other, thus the splendid Chinese culture came into being.Mongolia is a great nationality among the Chinese history and established a united centralized monarchy in the past. During the Mongolia's domination, nearly a hundred of years, all nationalities lived together friendly and peacefully and created a wonderful multi-culture of multi-nationalities. There are many minority nationalities in Yunnan province, the nationalities in Yunnan not only created the abundant material civilization but also created splendid spiritual civilization. Hubilie lead his fellow Mongols entered the Yunnan area. In the second year of the emperor Yuanxianzong(A.D.1252), the expeditionary troops of Yuan dynasty invaded the kingdom of Dali from three directions: Wulianghetai from the west, Hubilie from the middle and Yezhilie from the east to attack the areas of Yunnan. These three armies invaded Lijiang, occupied Dali City on Dec. 15th and ended the Dali kingdom. This is the first time on history that lots of Mongols entered Yunnan. Because of the Mongols' domination in Yunnan was founded, large quantity of Monglos entered Yunnan gradually by all kinds of ways. According to the census at the end of 1999, the Mongols in Yunnan is 14284, they distributed in many region, prefecture, city and county. There are 6485Mongols in Yuxi City, among this number there are 5325 Mongols in the Xingmeng of Tonghai, and this is about 37.2% among the whole Mongols in Yunnan. In Xingmeng township Han, Mongolia, Yi, Hani, Hui nationalities live here, among all these nationalities, there are 5350 people are Mongolia, 96.78% among the total population of the whole township. The Xingmeng township of Tonghai county in Yunnan province is located by the beautiful Qilu lake. This township still retains lots of Mongolian characteristics. The Mongols in Xingmeng township call themselves "Mongolia Wa", "Mongolia Le" or "Gangzhuo", and other local people call them Mongolia. According to the origin of nationality, Mongolia in Yunnan is the same with the Mongolia in north. Mongolia in Yunnan changed their original nomadic life and learned the farming of south and gradually used to the local life style on the fertile land of Yunnan, however, on the culture, most of the Mongolian characteristics is retained. This article tells about the cultural characteristic of Mongolia in Yunnan from the following points: Firstly, this article tells about the natural environment and history of the Mongolia in Yunnan, tells how the nomadic nationality came to this red earth highland, and tells how the Mongolia in Yunnan still retains their own culture. Secondly, this article describes the aspects of religion, custom, marriage, family and so on about the Mongolia in the Xingmeng township of Tonghai county in Yunnan province, therefore draws simple conclusions about the law and characteristic on the development of Mongolian culture in Yunnan. Thirdly, this article also tells about the relationship between Mongolia and other minority nationalities of Yunnan, according to the study of the relationship betweennationalities' culture, draws conclusion on the characteristic and law about cultural development. At last, this article will expound how the Mongolian culture in Yunnan develops in the future, and ask a question that whether the mixed together culture would lead the human civilization to declination or not.The characteristic of culture needs us to use many kinds of knowledge and many kinds of method to study its nature, and only in this way we could master the nature and the law of culture.
