This dissertation, which lessons from and absorbs the past researches, utilizes some basic concepts and theories of sociology and culturology, bases on the positive history data as the foundation, wields the comparison method, computing method, and so forth of various methods, uses the change of the educational systems as the angle of view, sees about all kinds influence and its reason of country society at education realm and other and social realm about from 1900 to 1937, and sums up some base characteristics of the country and Chinese modern mode. Its purpose is to make people to put the country society and the China society since 1840 in perspective from a new the angle of view completely. The full text consists of 7 parts.Introduction: It investigates the previous study situation, defines the range of research, and expounds the meaning and methods of the dissertation.Chapter one: From the view of the culture competition it investigates and analyzes the background, characteristics, and causes of formation of pattern of education in country society and modernization of the old-style private school. It brings up that after the Educational Reform, modern style schools grew profusely and quickly under the aegis of the government, which wielded the forcible measures. And so the traditional education mode, in which the center was the old-style private school had been destroyed. During the new-style school which stood for the new cultural and was sustained by the government was entering into the country, the private school which stood for the old cultural also was struggling to exist resorting to its agrestic adaptability and special functional agility. The private school was replying to the challenge from the new-style school. When the two style schools were facing each other, there formed the exceptive pattern of education. Althought both the pattern of education the new-style school and the old-style private school existed together, the private school always was the overlord of the predial culture. In the countryside, not only the private school was more than the new-style school, but also the private school's social cultural function as community center was more outstanding. On the other hand ,after the conflicts, the old-style private school were beginning to remould itself befittingly, which is the base for the new-learning education system to win the old-learning education system in the countryside ultimately.Chapter two: From three aspects: education budget, contingent of teachers and society support, using the metrological history and comparative history to analyze the reasons that the new-style school was infirmmer than the private school. And it make detailed investigate for the income of the school teacher. It educes that the combination of the government power and the social power were headspring of the motivity, and if there was no the government power or the social power to support the new-style school, it was impossible for the new-style school to shake the very foundation of the private school in the country in such a short- term.Chapter three: It puts great emphasis on discussing the every kind of positive influences which the new-learning education system made in the country. At the end of the Ch'ing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China when the modern rational new-learning education system substituted for the old-learning education system which is traditional and experiential, there had unprecedented changes in the country. In essence, when the new-learning education system was put into effect it raised the curtain on going for the modern time in rural communities in the two respects-system and culture. In depth and breadth there is no precedent in modern history for the social changes in the rural area which was triggered by the new-learning education system.Chapter four: This chapter discusses all kinds of the negative influences which the new-learning education system made in the country.
