There comes into being a new trend in educational field of our country in the late 20thcentury and early 21th century--emphasizing on the application of IT, among whichcomputers and internet are core technologies; constructing information infrastructure; urging teachers and students to use IT as tools in teaching and learning; providing supports to teachers' professional development; building resources and so on. All of these are based on a prerequisite and self-evident cognition: the application of technology in educational field can accelerate educational transformation. In fact, the application of IT in the primary and secondary educational field of our country encounters so many difficulties that a great fall appears between the expectation and the realism.A calm and prudent attitude must be taken firstly toward the application of IT in the school educational field during the periods of 20th century and it should be reflected on if we want to surpass technology Utopia. This article takes America as an example firstly, casts back the application of computers in the school educational field since 20th century, and opens out the orientation of three phases of IT application in the school educational field: (l)being taken as teaching assistant instruments; being taken as subject teaching contents; paying attention to the roles that IT plays in the school educational transformation. The variation of orientation reflects not only the ambiguity that people understand the relationship between IT and education, but also the continuous exploration by the people.The development courses and the present issues of IT application in school education field are reviewed in chapter two: (1) the application of IT in school education doesn't realize the transformation of teaching and learning; (2) the application of IT in school education doesn't promote the understanding of students; (3) the networks don't bring about anticipant interaction. Why the application of IT in school education may encounter such embarrassment, the essential reason lies in that people doesn't understand the relationship between IT and education.Comparisons of technologies in education are carried through in chapter three. The extent to which different technologies participates in the education process varies. There aren't inherent and inevitable connections between IT and education, but IT possesses the applied possibility to education as a kind of "communicative technology". The relationship between IT and education lies in that not only IT can be applied into education process, but rather it can bring about changes to the social lives and existing styles of human beings. We need dap out the narrow view only limited in the IT application to school education, and explore the relationship betweenIT and education from the informatization perspective. After this point is made clear, the relationship between IT and education is reconstructed in chapter four, and three view points are put forward:Firstly, the relationship between inside and outside school, integer and parts must be dealt with well in the course of IT application into school education field from the perspective of holistic educational transformation.Secondly, the effective and reasonable application of IT into class teaching must be premised on newly recognizing the values of class teaching, and reconstructing of process views of class teaching.Thirdly, the effective application of IT must be based on the principles of effective teaching and learning.
