By means of literature research and theory analysis, the present dissertation discusses deeply and seriously the essence and value of virtue embedded in the curriculum Yuwen, and then it confirms the value and significance of the subject Yuwen. The paper here holds that the Virtue Theory embedded in the teaching of the curriculum, Yuwen, should be set up, and also points out some theoretical approaches to improve and better the curriculum Yuwen. The thesis hopes, from the above analysis, to give us a better understanding that the education of Yuwen has a special and important function, that is, to teach people how to be a human being. The basic writing thoughts are like this: first, from the philosophical perspective, by means of discussing the independent relationship among Yuwen, virtue and life, the paper states virtue itself plays a provoking role in the construction of spirit in one's whole life and points out the virtue, embedded in the curriculum of Yuwen, has a quite important value and function in the formation of a man. And then, the dissertation from the ontological view, carries out a deep and close probe into the internalized characteristic of Yuwen, and then gets to know the nature of the curriculum Yuwen reasonably and scientifically. Lastly, from the perspective of practice, the present paper puts forward several theoretical propositions with respect to the curriculum of Yuwen. In the conclusion, we postulate that we should reform the formal "two-basics" aim, i.e. basic knowledge and basic skills (both are simply and uni-dimensionally focused on the level of language application) into "three-basics" aim, that is, basic language, basic intelligence and basic virtue, which is multi-dimensional and more reasonable).The whole dissertation consists of three parts: parti, part2 and part3.Parti discusses the necessity and importance of virtue: Yuwen as a life gui.de. It is divided into 4 chapters. In this part, by comprehensive and systematic study of philosopher's views concerning virtue at home and abroad, the paper has its own understanding of virtue: a sort of internalized spiritual quality with Superb characteristic and life strength which is centered on morality. And what's more, through analyses and induction, the paper holds that the elements of virtue are embodied and integrated in 3 perspectives: trueness, goodness and beauty, and also explicates the differences which differentiate virtue from morality, personality, ect. And it also points out virtue's great importance and overwhelming necessity for both man and society;states the inner-relationship between the virtue and life in terms of the nature, the development, the life significance and life achievements;believes that human being is a kind of animal with virtue, while the development of virtue is the highest development of human beings, virtue is the core of spiritual quality and highest state of human beings. And lastly the paper explicates the relationships among Yuwen, virtue and life, holding that Yuwen, with virtue as its core, should be treated as a compass directing life.Part2, divided into 3 chapters, talks about the nature of virtue: the value dimension of Yuwen. This part comments the 7 viewpoints with respect to the nature of Yuwen nowadays, throws doubt on and criticizes the definition in (Yuwen's curriculum Standard) and holds the view that Yuwen is not language, nor is literature, while Yuwen is Yuwen itself and puts forward that the quality of Yuwen should be of multi-culture, which ends up the disputes concerning the nature of Yuwen. Through the analysis of theory and the connotation and valuecomposition of Yuwen, we believe that Yuwen should be viewed in terms of 3 dimensions or perspectives, that is\ language, intelligence, and virtue, which, respectively, can also be regarded as its 3 functions. Therefore, from this, we can confirm its 3 qualities: linguistic quality (including knowledge, skills), intelligent quality, and spiritual quality with virtue as its essence. At last, we propose three-level guiding principles, i.e. the master of language (the lowest), the development of intelligence (the medium), and the formation of virtue (the highest).Part3, consisting of 5 chapters, focuses on the practice of virtue: the notion of curriculum Yuwen. It is aimed to construct curriculum system of Yuwen with virtue as its core. We believe the education of Yuwen should be carried out with virtue development as its goal;only in this way can the education of Yuwen play an effective and efficient role in the formation of virtue. So, the notion of the curriculum should integrate both the language-as-a-tool concept with that of virtue-as-a-core;with teaching method switching from knowledge-transmitting to virtue-developing, teachers should have good virtue of kindness, love, intelligence and passion for the job. While, the teaching content should be people-oriented, based on life and stick to the life-led principle, that of integrity of literature and virtue, of trueness, goodness and beauty, of combination of sociality and subjectivity, of tradition and fashion, and of internationalization. In the process of teaching, under the guide of bodily experience, we should try to set up active class atmosphere, put forward teaching models like life teaching, soul teaching, narration teaching, phenomenon teaching, etc;and the evaluation of the curriculum should consciously be education-oriented through direct and indirect ways.
