Education or teaching activity is essentially a purposeful and planned recognize activity.However,we often focus only on the result of knowing,and we want to gain more knowledge through this kind of cognitive activity,which is the main goal of teaching and the main task of learning.However,such teaching activities have forgotten that the aim of education is to promote the development of "human".The virtue epistemology puts forward that the cognitive quality of the cognitive subject should be an important condition for the successful acquisition of knowledge.It also inspires us to focus on and cultivate students’ cognitive virtue in teaching activities,so as to help students perfect rational spirit.So different from the previous research on the process of cognition and the result of cognition,this essay takes the virtue epistemology as the research field of vision and takes the intellectual virtue of cognitive agents as the research focus,emphasizing that the development of the intellectual virtue is not only intrinsic obligation of recognize activity,and is the inevitable requirement of excellent cognitive agents.Therefore,education should pay more attention to and strengthen the cultivation of the students’ intellectual virtue,so as to enable students to gain an abundance of rational spirit and grow into excellent cognitive agents,with the sustainable development of lifelong learning.This paper is a normative argument for value judgment and action principle by seeking evidence,rational thinking and logical deduction.It is divided into three parts:The first chapter elaborates the intellectual virtue of the cognitive agent as the core.From the point of theoretical development and ideological origin,the essay discusses the breakthrough significance of virtue epistemology and the reason of the concept of intellectual virtue.On the basis of discussion and analysis,clarified the nature of intellectual virtue is an excellent quality of cognition and puts forward the concept of cognitive subject,and put forward the structure of intellectual virtue consists of five essential cognitive virtues,such as intellectual autonomy,intellectual humility,open-mindedness,intellectual fairness and intellectual courage,which are inseparably linked with each other and act together to recognize activities in all aspects,to improve the reliability of results.The second chapter is to understand the students’ intellectual virtue.As immature cognitive agents,students have the characteristics of elementary virtue,developing and reflexivity.And the intellectual virtue plays an important role in the cognitive activities,mainly reflected in the following six aspects:promote the students to understand the clarity;improve the accuracy of students’ knowledge;strengthen the students’ understanding of the deep penetration;expand the comprehensive understanding of students;ensure the rationality of students’ understanding;promote students’ critical thinking.Therefore,it is very important and urgent to cultivate students’ intellectual virtue.The third chapter aims at cultivating the intellectual virtue of students.Intellectual virtue is endowed with innate equality,acquired knowledge and internal understanding.Thus,the cultivation of students’ intellectual virtue has the possibility of popularization.In order to cultivate students’ intellectual virtues in teaching activities,we should always adhere to the five major practical principles of recognize autonomy,opening up our minds,rationally proof,recognize justly,and critically rethinking,both in the teaching of teachers and in the learning of students.Can really promote the development and improvement of students’ intellectual virtues and realize the educational value of education.
