Logistic service reform, starting in 1999 in colleges and universities in our country, has achieved remarkable progress, and has initially broken a road for the transition of logistic service under planned economy to logistical service adapting to market economy, which has effectively accelerated the development of higher education of our country. Yet in recent years, there has been little voice concerning logistic service reform of colleges and universities. Part of the reason is that it has become more difficult to carry the logistic reform forward further, the demand for logistical service is satisfied temporarily and that there is limited profit margin for further reform. But fundamentally speaking, this is mainly because we are too much satisfied with the expedient solution while we are still ignorant of the special rules governing the logistic service of our colleges and universities. A theoretical analysis of the history and the current state of the logistic reform in our colleges and universities is a prerequisite for proposing a strategy of insight for further logistic reform. On the basis of the above view point, this paper, with promotion of turning over colleges and universities' logistic service to the market system as its aim, and optimization of logistic resources configuration as its theme, intends to construct a theoretic frame for the configuration of resources in colleges and universities through applying knowledge of different disciplines in an integrated way, on the basis of a theoretical analysis of the logistic resources of colleges and universities. There are altogether three parts, consisting of eight chapters, in this dissertation. The first part, made up of the first three chapters, covers introduction, concept demarcation, theoretical foundation, analytical model and resources of production. This part states the background, purpose, method, and structure of this research on the one hand and explains concept demarcation, theoretical foundation and analytical model on the other. Besides, it deals with the denotation, characteristics andconfiguration trend of production resources. The second part, from Chapter Four to Chapter Six, analyzes by means of Analytical Hierarchy Process the proportional relationship between on-campus and off-campus productive resources and the three consumption resources for which productive resources supply services. The third part, including the last two chapters, offers case studies, draws a conclusion and makes suggestions. The theoretical creativeness of this dissertation is reflected in the following aspects. Firstly, logistic resources are classified into production resources and consumption resources on type and level basis. Production resources are divided not only into on-campus resources and off-campus resources but also into asset resources and human resources while consumption resources into student-specific consumption resources, staff-specific consumption resources and school-oriented consumption resources. Secondly, from the perspective of economics, the author states with explanation the rareness of logistic resources. Meanwhile, this dissertation deals with the principle for optimal configuration of logistic resources and demarcates the nature of logistic services at colleges and universities. Thirdly, mathematical knowledge is applied into the optimal configuration of logistic resources, by means of building up mathematical model, and the purpose is to seek the ways and methods for optimal configuration of logistic resources. Fourthly, a framework of configuration mode for logistic resources is supplied.
