The education aphorism is precious resources in the treasure house of educational thought. Through retrieving associated documents and its research survey, we found that we have not paid enough attention to education aphorism, our theoretical understanding to it has not been insufficient, and our practical exploration to it has not been chaotic. Inquiry into the issue is not only beneficial to inherit the outstanding educationally cultural heritage, to extend the vision of educational fundamental research; but also to promotion of teacher's professional development, to tamping of bedrock of education reform. On the theoretical basis of language rhetoric, form logic, analytic educational philosophy, educational ethnics, constructivism, Marxism philosophy, the research involves basic concepts, phenomenon and essence, structure and function, realistic question and survival and development strategy of education aphorism, by the methods of outside asking (literature searches and investigation) self-alerting (speech analysis and reflective research).As a kind of educational speech form, the education aphorism, which was shaped in the long-time educational practice, is philosophical, reflects educational law, has widely effect and standard significance to educational practice. According to the categories of educational theory and the components of educational activity, there are education aphorisms about educational subject, idea, goal, content, process, principle, method, environment and so on. The intrinsic characteristic of education aphorism is incarnated in profound theoretical connotation, high philosophical taste, the deep time brand mark, and the bright life significance. Its apparent attribute is embodied in conciseness of the words, integrity of the structure, aesthetic sense of the form, broadness of the influence.The education aphorism mainly originated from educational speech of saints, ancient motto and folk educational wisdom. Its basic producing conditions include the fitting scene, the educational subject's personal consciousness, the social public's approval and endurable effect. Ancient education aphorism was prosperous in China. Modern education aphorism was mature in Europe. However, current education aphorism is advanced in the USA.
