Value is pursuit of bahaviour. The value of P.E teaching is goal of teacher and student in P.E teaching. For study of P.E teaching, the basic and most important question is how to pursue the ultimate realization of teaching value and how to develop student in the field of knowledge, body, psychology and society. So, value study is the destination of behaviour study and process study.P.E, a part of school education, is put into practice by teaching. What should be taught to students in P.E class? What's the original intention and value of P.E teaching? These questions are not well understood and comparatively ignored in practice and studies of P.E teaching. Combining qualitative with quantitative research methods, the article does research on the teaching value of P.E and relevant problem.Teaching value of P.E lies in the satisfaction of teaching-object to teaching-subject's needs. The value of P.E teaching doesn't come into being until the formation of formal P.E teaching. Having their own historical and social characteristics, P.E teaching in China and the West, formed in different times, shows different teaching value, but still have some common features.The value of P.E teaching can be analyzed from two aspects: ultimate value and process value. On the basis of theory of body and mind, the ultimate value of P.E teaching is to promote the development of students' body and mind. Besides its own characteristics, the process value shares general teaching value with other disciplines. The process value includes knowledge and method, motor skill, body-building. In addition, the value has psychological and social, the former is again divided into emotion-experience, will-building, character and intelligence development, moral education, entertainment of body and mind, the latter into socialization, communication ability and role- adaptation.The students and teachers hold different views on teaching value of P.E. The students think motor skill is the most important and mental health, relaxation is neglected. While 73.2 percent of teache-s consider body-building is the most important and motor skill, will-building is important.The realization of teaching value of P.E is closely related with the teacher, student and leader. The teacher should motivate the students' interest through designing teaching by various means. At the time, individual differences should be considered in teaching, so that every student can gain in participating in physical exercise and the value of P.E teaching can be realized in practice happily.
