What kind of education does the minority in southwestern China need? How do we realize the benign development of the minority education in southwestern China? These two questions reflect the dilemmas of the minority education in southwestern China. In fact, confronted with the strong and lasting impact and challenge of the globalization, the phenomena such as the low educational efficiency, the alienation of the schooling and life of the minority community, and the slow educational development, have become the ubiquitous problems, which needs our re-scanning. Based on the preliminary thinking, the thesis puts forward the theoretic hypothesis: the endogenous development is the key to the benign development of the minority education.Evidence is required to test this hypothesis. There are two reasons for choosing Shimenkan ethnic group for this case study: first, Shimenkan locates at the crossing boundary of Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou and Chongqing; although the life of the local community is marginalized in a long period, it became the center of the district where the multiple cultures collide with and merge into each other. Second, endogenous development has played a significant part in the local minority education in the past century. The obvious contrast between its historical and present situation endows great value on the research of experimental field of modern educational system. Therefore, with its unique and typical signification, Shimenkan becomes an ideal case for the present study.The study will apply such methods as literature search for reviewing some relevant historical facts and field work for collecting data of their status quo. Meanwhile, interpretive anthropology and structuration theory will be involved in the analysis of the endogenous development of minority education in this study. Consequently, it belongs to etic research.. However, emic research is also necessary for entirely and externally presenting the immanent thoughts and needs of endogenous development. Synthetically speaking, this dissertation is educational anthropologic study.My study first put the case in the context of Sino-Western culture communication, reviewing the history of Sino-Western culture communication, from where an in-depth analysis of the background of Chinese modern educational system is revealed, cleaning up the devious passages that Chinese modern educational system has come through from passively accepting, simplified imitating to endogenous development, and then point out how important role that endogenous development plays in the process of Chinese education. Further, the study analyzes the evolvement of modern educational system in Shimenkan, thinks about its different status in different time, and then argues that the relationship between local people's active movement and educational system has been in a continuing process of structuration. However the simplification of present educational pattern restricts its structuration process, and deconstructs a formed particular educational pattern which is comparative adaptive to the local traditional culture and nature conditions. This study discusses the necessarily of endogenous development in southwestern China minority education from such aspects as individual development of minority ethnic students, the continuous developing of traditional ethnic minority and the construction of multiethnic country under one system. From the analysis of Subjective Study, which convinces us the present needs of minority education, we make a propose that the national minority should emphasize "humanist" and the diversity value tropism in response to the basic problem of endogenous development of minority education. From the above analysis, a conclusion will be given: endogenous development, as an educational method of respecting every ethnic minority's traditional culture, is an inevitable choice for us. Therefore, the study has completed a test for the hypothesis, and brings it into existence.This study has done further reflection in basic theoretical issues of the minority education endogenous development. And it insists on, (1)the developing road of minority education endogenous development in southwest China is people-oriented, which has been the largest manifestation of minority development strategy; (2)Shimenkan minority education endogenous development can be recommended as the representative of southwest region promoting the development of minority education; (3)the promoting of southwest minority education endogenous development are conducive to the integration of the diversified Construction;(4)The factors and conditions to affect southwest minority educational endogenous development ;(5) Southwest minority educational endogenous development needs strong national support;(6)Southwest minority education endogenous development needs to protect the traditional culture of ethnic minorities from the education system. Then, this study suggests: (1)pass minority education legislation to develop southwest minority education endogenous development; (2)pay attention to the cultivation of minorities.This research proves the endogenous development has the vital significance to the education development of national minority in southwestern China, and initially constructing the theory's frame about the endogenous development of the education in the national minority of southwestern China .This is a exploration about the theory, which can advance the education development of national minority in southwestern China .Indeed, due to the limitation from the research measures and individual research level as well as limitation from the other aspects, this research will await the continuous endeavor in the following aspects: (1)whether the endogenous development of the national minority education has the limitation? (2)What does the relation between the influence factors in the endogenous development of the national minority education? (3)Whether the endogenous development of the national minority education has the specific pattern to be allowed to spread? (4)How about this research can be used for reference to the education in other national minorities?In brief, as an exploration of the theory, this research has many places which needs to be improved, but today the social develops fast .So protecting the nationality traditional culture has no time to delay. Even if this is a wrong for trying, I also believe it can provide the certain help for the continuous correlative research.
