Originated in the sixties and seventies of the 20th century in the West, the multicultural education is the basic ideas of China's minority nationality education. Its successful solution of the education problems related to those courtiers with multi-ethnic groups has made it necessary for us to use its scientific theories and effective experiences to deal with the issues of China's ethnic groups education-the core of which is the construction of multicultural curriculum. Therefore, in the multi-ethnic and multi-cultural areas with a multi-cultural background, how to fuse organically the cultural quintessence of the ethnic groups with the contemporary curriculum so that the cultures of all ethnic groups are properly respected and understood, how to cultivate the students' ability to view the multi values of cultures from the perspective multicultural, and how to promote the students' competence of cross-cultural adaptation are matters of practical importance waiting to be solved.The text of the paper is based on the case study of multicultural curriculum development carried out in the Yan Yuan County of Si Chuan Province. Based on the researching theories of multicultural curriculum, this dissertation systematically and deeply analyzes the degree to which the multicultural curriculum and the factors which influence development as planned by applying to multiple methods, such as field study, interview, observation, questionnaire and literature analysis, and interprets some problems of the constructive modes of multicultural curriculum development, curriculum design and the strategies of exploration of multicultural curriculum which to advances some constructive suggestions for the reform of basic education's curriculum and shows the concept scheme and practical case for the multicultural curriculumdevelopment in the minority nationalities areas of southwest China.The dissertation consists of five parts.Part one is an introduction, from the trend of development of the word and the demand of multicultural curriculum development in multicultural background of China, expounds the research value and essential of carrying on multicultural curriculum development and, shows the present situation in details and puts forward the basis methods and ways on the study.Part two is the understanding of multicultural curriculum, having the deep viewpoints on the essential of multicultural curriculum, characters of multicultural curriculum and the basic ideas of multicultural curriculum. These are the basic theory scheme of multicultural curriculum development in Yan Yuan County.Part three is based on analyses of basic education, bilingual education, the present condition of multicultural curriculum development, the investigation of teachers' multicultural attitude and their multicultural educational attitude. Based on the analysis and investigation from that, exploring the influence factors and condition of multicultural curriculum development which are the reality bases of multicultural curriculum development.Part four is a systematically analyses of the investigation's conclusion and interprets the theories of multicultural curriculum discriminatingly in the west, put forward a conception of multicultural curriculum development in Yan Yuan County. It consists of three parts, the one are the modes of multicultural curriculum, the two are design of multicultural curriculum, the other are strategies of multicultural curriculum resources exploration.Part five is the epilogue, on the bases of the rethinking and reconstruction of multicultural, puts forward the reality and reason of choice on the localization construction of multicultural curriculum development in the minority nationalities areas of southwest China. There are some issues waiting to be resolved. Furthermore, it points out the direction for the future follow-up researches.
