A Case Study On Technique Curriculum Implementation In High School

The quality of the curriculum implemented in school level greatly indicates the success of the curriculum reform. The curriculum designed is different from that implemented, which is to say that the perfectly planed curriculum can't go well as expected if implemented in the natural state. So, it is necessary to carry out an action research on the curriculum implementation process on school level. This research probes into the general senior school technique curriculum implemented from September 2004 on the school level, from the perspective of character and attribution.In our county for the fist time,"technique"appears in high school curriculum system as independent learning field,"technique curriculum"acquires its unsubstituted status,"General Technique"curriculum enters into high school classroom. Owning to these"fists", the popularization and implementation of the technique curriculum comes into the focus. This study selects the general senior school new curriculum reform testing district as the case, and investigates the students, teachers, schoolmasters and teaching researchers who is experiencing the technique curriculum reform to disclose the interaction relationship between the technique curriculum implementation feature on school level and corresponding influence factors. The aim is to provide reference to the effective implementation and remedy of high school general technique curriculum scheme. In the research, we collect the correlative materials by deep interviewing, class observation questionnaires and file collections.Research indicates that technique curriculum implemented on school level shows such characters: (1) For the subject reception, students, Teachers, schoolmasters and teaching researchers all agree on the importance of technique curriculum, but Students and Teachers have lower degree on the subject reception of the curriculum text. As the curriculum value recognized by Student and Teachers, general technique is"enhance the applicatory ability","sense the technique during the daily life", information technique is"inspire the innovation","cultivate information management and exchange ability"; Teachers and teaching researchers oppugn the curriculum aim orientation on information literature; Students and Schoolmasters'understanding on the general technique curriculum doesn't agree with their action.(2) At the beginning of implementation, the real environment is far from what it needed. In all, there are three kinds of corners, which are rooted in the tension structure between reform and the environment within school system, but the school fails to control the tension of"reform- environment".(3) Curriculum implementation in the classroom takes varied forms. Information technique curriculum show its feature of application mainly and operation study is the main study way. But general technique shows its feature of academy in the other way, and some shows its applicability feature.Research also shows that the factors influencing technique curriculum implementation on school level make up of a complex factor net. Some traits showed in the intended curriculum have negative effect on the teachers'curriculum reception and reform adaptation, especially for the curriculum text; schoolmasters'curriculum decision-making plays key role for the technique curriculum's survival in the classroom, the status of technique curriculum in school is determined by schoolmaster; teachers'professional diathesis and belief restricts the effects and development of implemented curriculum , the"unimportant subject discrimination"culture existed in the school has great negative effect on the full-scale implementation of technique curriculum; Schoolmasters, students, teachers'curriculum understanding and reception affect technique curriculum implementation situation variable, atmosphere improvement, curriculum policy making and curriculum devotion. In addition to that, authority, exertion of power, local curriculum policy professional support and curriculum social evaluation, all these affect the curriculum implementation publicly or recessively. Political factors restrict the school technique curriculum policy making, or provide insurance. Compared with the interior factors, the exterior ones have more influence.Based on the above findings, we make concrete suggestions for the effective implementation of the technique curriculum, including improving the environment through administrative order, amending technique curriculum scheme, emphasizing much on the technique teachers'curriculum understanding, accelerating the technique teachers'professionalism; paying attention to schoolmasters'professional development, sticking to"the three roles"at the same time for the education administrative department and so on. At last, we have a bold debate on such questions: can the technique curriculum be oriented as application curriculum? What is the significance of the rich curriculum value intension? Can technique curriculum be non-conventional curriculum? We answer clearly that the technique curriculum should be oriented as application curriculum. The primary value of technique curriculum is to instruct the students to preparation for their living in the technique environment.
