Geospatial literacy is the central content of geographical literacy, having unique value to students'development. For a long time, the cultivation of students'geospatial literacy has not been taken seriously, and because the lack of the effective auxiliary tools, the cultivation of geospatial literacy has difficulty to carry out in secondary schools. Meanwhile, as one of geography information science products, Google Earth (It's called GE in this article) has received the domestic and foreign geography pedagogues'attention since the date of its birth. The utilization of GE in the American geography education indicates that GE has remarkable effect to the cultivation of middle-school students'geospatial literacy. Studying the geospatial literacy, using GE as auxiliary tool and researching the strategies of cultivating geospatial literacy will have extremely important value to rich system info of geography literacy education and to utilize geography information technology tool which takes GE as primarily means effectively in the geography classroom.The whole paper includes three constituent, the introduction, the main text and the conclusion. The main text is divided into five chapters following the basically research mentality from theory to practice.The part of introduction elaborates the research background from the perspectives of the importance of spatial literacy, the responsibility and duty of geography science in cultivating spatial literacy, important value of spatial literacy in the course of cultivating citizens'necessary geography literacy and the need of enhancing the information auxiliary tools'validity to cultivating spatial literacy. Based on this, the introduction has clarified the research significance, research content, research method and research process.The first chapter is the literature summary. The summary is exposed from geospatial literacy, GE and its use in geography teaching. This chapter combs the related research situation of geospatial literacy from the perspectives of geography space and its content, spatial literacy and spatial thinking, geography literacy and geospatial literacy, and the cultivation of geospatial literacy. Also, this chapter narrates the research of GE utilizing in the geography education of domestic and foreign scholars. And according to this, the article decides research beginning and research angle viewpoint.The second chapter is the study of middle-school students'geospatial literacy. The paper defines the geospatial literacy and analyzes its integrant. The chapter elaborates the value of the integrant of geospatial literacy from aspects that the construction of geospatial concepts is the foundation of the geospatial literacy, geospatial representation is the essential skill of geospatial literacy and spatial reasoning is the core competence of geospatial literacy. According to the analysis of geography curriculum standard, this chapter elaborates the knowledge carrier, tool carrier and action carrier of middle-school students'geospatial literacy. Also this chapter analyzes the level of our country students'geospatial literacy, using the test questionnaire made by ourselves and elaborates the enlightenments of the attention to spatial literacy of American geography standard.The third chapter is the compatible analysis of the use of GE in geography teaching. The article draws a conclusion that the compatibility of the use of GE in geography teaching is strong and can be effective auxiliary tool for geography teaching by interviewing and observing students'study behavior of students of Northeast Normal University Attached middle school. And from the answers of students, we can obtain that GE has positive influence to the cultivation of geospatial literacy, and even that the teachers believe that GE can help cultivate secondary school students'geospatial literacy and consider that it is essential to formulate using strategies based on geospatial literacy.The fourth chapter is the using strategies of GE based on the cultivation of middle-school students'geospatial literacy. Firstly, the paper induces systemic characteristic of cultivation of geospatial literacy and puts forward the function, using principle and using form of GE in cultivating geospatial literacy. Subsequently, this chapter proposes the using strategies of GE, using the rich geography image of GE, locating and describing geospatial location with GE, using GE to recognize geospatial distribution, controlling the different map levels of GE to understand geospatial relation and using GE to learn about geography progress and form time-space concepts. The strategies also include the transformation between map illustrations of GE and word representation, the transformation between mathematics indication of GE and word representation and the transformation between each kind of representations and cognition representation. And it also includes the strategies of using GE with heuristic and case methods.The fifth chapter is the effect research of the strategies with which cultivates secondary school students'geospatial literacy by GE. The article uses statistical software of Spss14.0 for windows to test the reliability and validity of the test result with self- test questionnaire and analyze result. The result of geography education experiments indicts that the first grade middle-school students of experimental group enhance much more than contrast group in aspects of geospatial concept, geospatial representation and geospatial reasoning. This explains that geospatial literacy can be enhanced through special geography education teaching strategies, and GE is the main tool which will affect t the result. The result of geography education experiments of the first grade of high school in the first semester indicts that the students of experimental group who elect the school curriculum enhance more than contrast group in aspect of geospatial literacy, especially in aspect of geospatial reasoning. Also, this article analyzes the reason of the test result. This part is conclusion and forecast. In this part, I refine the basic conclusion of the paper through inducing the content, value,cultivation carrier of middle-school students'geospatial literacy, interviewing and observing students'study behavior and analyzing the result of geography education experiment, based on the cultivation strategies of geospatial literacy. At the same time, this part summaries this articles'innovation through the research of middle-school students'geospatial literacy and the understanding of the GEs'using condition in middle-school geography teaching. In addition, this part also forecasts the related research of this articles'subject and points out the deficiency of this articles'study.
