Under the background of higher education popularization in our country, the non-compulsory nature of higher education has been emphasized outstandingly, and due to the university cost-sharing system, fees and charges rise year by year. Coupled with the imbalance of China's socio-economic development, a number of contemporary social vulnerable groups——impoverished undergraduates have appeared in the college and university. With the enrollment of colleges and universities continuing to expand and the rapid growth of the students, the number of impoverished undergraduates increases sharply. The phenomenon of impoverished undergraduates'becomes increasingly prominent, therefore, a series of impoverished undergraduates'problems urgent to be resolved are more conspicuous. How to solve impoverished undergraduates'financial difficulties and other issues initiated by financial difficulties effectually, ensuring that impoverished undergraduates do not drop out of school, and making their physiology,psychology to develop in a healthy way has become a common concerned focus. In this regard, the government, schools, families, communities and other organizations including various NGO should cooperate actively in the hope of forming a strong,effective social support system to ensure that the college students able to successfully complete their education, and guiding their values positively.Since the 70's of last century"social support"has been introduced into psychiatry, social support and its functions have been studied from sociology, psychiatry, economics and social psychology etc. Using questionnaire and case interview materials, the dissertation analyzes impoverished undergraduates'social support and its influences on their values. This study focuses on the influences of two types of social support——the informal social support and formal social support——on impoverished undergraduates'life values,moral values,money values and learning conception. The major findings of the study are as follows: their informal social support is family-based, and formal social support is nation-based. These support can be divided into family support, friend support, neighborhood support, relative support, teacher support and financial aid policy support, also can be divided into financial support, emotional support, information support, learning support and service support.As to the life values, informal social support has influence on impoverished undergraduates'life value goal, life attitude, the value of life evaluation. The formal social support has influence on some items of impoverished undergraduates'life value goal, life attitude.As to the moral values, informal social support has influence on national view, collective conception, individual conception and the tendency of morals behavior. Formal social support has influence on national view and some factors of the tendency of morals behavior.As to the money values, informal social support has impact on the every factor of the money values, but formal social support has a little impact on the factor of money meaning.As to the learning conception, informal social support has impact on learning attitude, learning achievement, level of effort and learning self-efficacy, while formal social support has impact on learning achievement, level of effort and learning self-efficacy.On the whole, the informal social support has more influence on impoverished undergraduates'values than formal social support. Moreover, the function of the emotion support is very prominent. But financial aid policy support and service of the formal support has little even no influence on the impoverished undergraduates'values.On one hand, it reflects the deficiency of social support. On the other hand, it shows that it would be far from enough to resolve the impoverished undergraduates'problems only by economic assistance. The values education of impoverished undergraduates should start with mentality. The social support should transform from"Emphasizing on poverty alleviation while neglecting encouragement"to"Both poverty alleviation and encouragement". So that impoverished undergraduates could complete their education,also form sound personality and right values.
