Impoverished students has become an important part of college students. Impoverished students have to face the pressure of economic, academic, employment and other factors while receiving higher education. As it will directly affect whether they are able to learn and live as normally as others do, their mental health is raising increasing concerns. Because of family economic conditions, some poor students exhibit low self-esteem, low social support level, and low psychological well-being, which in turn, making a disadvantage in terms of living, learning, employment, and their future development. Currently, impoverished college students have been given a lot of material support, such as scholarships, grants, student loans, work-study, tuition remission, the green channel, home-based living allowances, etc, mental health care too, has also been developed. However, such mental health education focus mostly on the prevention and treatment of negative psychology, showing a tendency of a problem-centered development, however, they positive psychological development and education as well。 Therefore, it is necessary to carry out research on self-esteem, social support and psychological well-being of impoverished colleges Atudents to help them improve self-esteem, promote effectiveness of social support and enhance their psychological well-being, so that they can successfully complete four years of college study and life, to achieve physical and mental development, while the development of individual potential and completion of self-realization.In this paper, by way of a questionnaire survey of 600 undergraduate students of Yanbian University, the article attempts to understand the level of self-esteem, social support and psychological well-being of impoverished college students, and statistical variables ofof the above factors, with interviews, the article also explores and analyzes how the statistical variables affect the poor college students on self-esteem, social support and psychological well-being levels.Through the analysis and discussion of the survey findings, this study concludes four statement as follows:1. The level of overall social support and its dimensions shows a good level, a basically confident level of self-esteem, medium level in overall psychological well-being and its all dimensions.2. overall level of poor college students in self-esteem is weaker, compared to that of others with better economic condition; levels in psychological well-being, positive relationships with others, control of environment are also relatively weaker.3. Variables of gender, grade, ethnicity, major, sources of students, and level of poverty, have significant influence on social support, self-esteem and psychological well-being of impoverished students4. The self-esteem, social support and psychological well-being has a significant positive correlation, and self-esteem plays an intermediary variable between social support and psychological well-being.As a conclusion, the paper puts forward six suggestions:1. Train a qualified team to provide psychological advice to impoverished students2. Adjust system of social support, to provide variable ways of support3. Regarding campus culture, explore new media to make full use of social support4. Group counseling, a correct understanding of themselves and enhance self-esteem levels of poor college students5. morre efforts on positive psychological care, improve mental health of impoverished students6. promote and improve psychology education, to raise their psychological well-being...
