IEEE1394 is a high performance commercial bus standard. In order to make it can used in space-mission, we designed IP Core of 1394 link layer controller. It is known, IEEE1394 bus is not developed for high reliable applications. So the reliability and fault-tolerance of IEEE1394 must be studied deeply before it is used in space-mission. The main contents of this report as follow:1. Several bus standards available in market were briefly introduced and analyzed. And the feasibility and necessity of developing 1394 IP Core was explained.2. The design of IEEE1394 link layer controller was described detailed, including the hierarchy, function of all the modules and interface signals between different modules.3. Simulating the design, the main simulation waves were provided.4. After completing the simulation of IP Core, we tested the design in actual communication by downloaded it is into the FPGA on the test device designed specially for test.5. The reliability of several physical topologies for IEEE1394 bus was qualitatively analyzed and quantitative evaluated. And two fault-tolerant and high-reliable designs for 1394 are proposed.6. The native fault-tolerant of IEEE1394 was discussed briefly, and the fault-tolerant mechanism of PHY-link interface was studied deeply.
