A Study On Inter-provincial Agricultural Competitiveness

Agriculture is the foundation of the national economy and the source of human existence. The development of agriculture directly affects the overall situation of the national economy. With the economic globalization and the accelerated process of the market integration, especially after China's accession to WTO, Fujian's development of agriculture, the same with the situation of the National Agriculture, faces a new economic environment and new tasks. In the increasingly fierce competition in both domestic and foreign market, it comes as an emergent issue to be effectively solved that Fujian makes it clear how competitive the provincial agriculture is and how it will achieve high-quality, high-level and sustainable development, so as to sharpen its competitive advantage and gain its rightful market share. The way to address the issue is associated with the solution of the three problems of agriculture, rural areas and farmers, with the modern agriculture progress and the success of the new socialist countryside construction in Fujian Province, and with the sustained and stable growth of the provincial economy.This article focuses on giving references to Fujian government at different levels by evaluating provincial agriculture competition ability within the scope of the whole nation and especially Fujian, trying to find the competitive advantage of the agriculture in Fujian, exploring and verifying the contemporary agriculture's position, target and the measures that the government should take in the future. As a result, Fujian's agriculture competition ability can be improved and enhanced.This article provides a structure of concept in district Agriculture research, classifies the implication and structure of the agriculture competition ability, and analyzes the internal and external factors that affecting the agriculture competition ability based on the existing competition concept. It also constructs an appraisal index system on provincial agriculture competition ability, which has been used in the research of district agriculture competition ability and Fujian s agriculture competition ability by summarizing the previous research result. Besides, this article, using comparative analysis method, exposes an analysis on the competitiveness of the grain and the main characteristic agricultural industry in Fujian. After that, it itemizes the experience and suggestions that different kinds of countries which are developed in agriculture competition ability provide. Finally, this article suggests some ways on how to improve Fujian's agriculture competition ability.
