As an important component of the service industry, tourism industry has been paid attention more and more by many countries. Because it created enormous economic and social benefits, each country actively exploits domestic and international tourism resources, develops tourism industry, tourism industry has become a pillar industry in many countries. With some countries' domestic tourism investment market has saturated, many business entities and investors focus to invest to the international tourist market gradually. It makes tourism industry face drastic competition in international market. The international competitive environment is very dangerous for China tourism industry, because it not only faces the international investors to seize domestic investment market but also faces the pressure from other tourism destinations to attract and distract domestic tourists. If China wants to achieve a powerful tourism country from a big tourism country, we must as soon as possible to shorten the gap with other tourism powers and enhance the tourism industry's international competitiveness further.This thesis was base on the international competitiveness theory and the sustainable development theory and used methods of comparative analysis, quantitative and qualitative analysis, theoretical analysis and empirical research to analyze the tourism industry's international competitiveness condition of the United States, Switzerland, Thailand and China from inbound and outbound tourism, and draw some relevant conclusions. It revealed the formation mechanism of the international competitiveness of tourism industry by analyzing characteristics of the international competitiveness of tourism industry and its impact factors, such as:industrial internal factors, market demand factors, associated industry factors and environmental factors. Built the international competitiveness of tourism industry's "bow-Strings-Arrow" model, it includes the tourism product supply power, the tourism market demand power, the core tourism enterprises' competitiveness, the tourism associated industry supportive power and the tourist environmental bearing capacity. It deeply studied the relationships between the tourism product supply power, the tourism market demand power, the core tourism enterprises'competitiveness, the tourism associated industry supportive power and the tourist environmental bearing capacity with the international competitiveness of tourism industry, put forward the concepts of the composed tourism product and the composed tourism product chain, and thus construct the structure of the composed tourism product chain diagram. Constructed the evaluation index system of the international competitiveness of tourism industry and used the GEM method to determine the key evaluation index. Constructed the DEA evaluation model to measure and value the international competitiveness of tourism industry of 20 countries or regions in its technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency, and made theory and practice integrate closely.From six dimensions to cultivate and improve the international competitiveness of China tourism industry, they are:following-up and implementing the tourism development plan, adjusting and improving tourism products supply, spreading tourism market demand, enhancing the core tourism enterprises' competitiveness, developing industry cluster and strengthening and improving the tourism industry's external develop environment and promoting natural ecological environment, economic environment and socio-cultural environment. The results of this research provided scientific methods and guidance to enhance the competitive advantage and leading position of China tourism industry in international market and enhance the economic benefits of our tourism industry and lead its sustainable development.
