Mechanism Of The Metropolitan Industrial Structure Evolution

This paper studied the mechasnism and features of metropolitan industrial structure evolution.In ord to explore that mechanism deeply, this paper first built a joint system made up by two components, industrial structure evolution and spatial structure evolution, and discussed the connection between them.Then explored the evolution of metropolitan industrial structure in considering of affecting factors.At last, taking Shanghai metropolitan as an example to validate the thesis. The main points of this paper are as follows:(1) Industrial structure evolution of metropolitan area is affected by many factors, such as technological progress, human resources, environmental factor, level of economic development, polarization and diffusion effect.(2) Industrial structure evolution and spatial structure evolution was a mutual promotive, synergistic process. The two subsystems together consititute the joint evolution system.(3) The nature of metropolitan industrial structure evolution is the evolution of industry and space relevancy affected by endogenous and exogenous factors.Difference between urban industry endowments is the driving force. Important internal drives include innovative mechanisms, learning mechanisms and the duffision mechanism.(4) The overall trend of metropolitan industrial structure evolution is infomationization,industry convergence and Servitization(5) Based on cooperation and division, metropolitan industial structure evolution shows significant features of symbiotic. (6) With the upgrading of competitiveness,central cities prioritly developed services with wide range of radiation and high value-added manufacturing located in top of industrial chain.Under the spreading and echoing effects, sub-central cities gradually developed services with medium radiation and transitional manufacturing located in the middle of the industrial chain.Under dual forces of central cites and sub-central cities,general cities gradually developed local-oriented services and low value-addad manufacturing located in the bottom of industrial chain.Early in the large-scale international industrial transfer,some industries may be placed in the cental cities,sub-central cities and general cities at the same time.(7) Industrial division in the process of metropolitan industrial structure evolution could contribute to economic development.
