E-Commerce is a new economic trend which resulted from the convergence of widespread adoption of internet usage and information technology. It has fundamentally changed the basic business landscape, and therefore brought upon core changes in corporate structure, management methodology, and marketing strategy for all corporate enterprises. In addition, this new business environment has also gradually changed consumer behavior. Under this new internet business platform, there are increasingly more leading-edge innovations and new business models. These new business models not only include the various traditional internet models-B2C, B2B, and C2c, such as Taobao, Alibaba,360Buy, Vancl, etc., but also includes new business models that resulted from new consumer behavior, and the way that information is exchanged including Dianping, ChinaPNR, and also includes new business models that were introduced by traditional businesses, such as Dell's direct distribution platform, Guomei's installment payment plan, and Toyota's business website. These new business models that were introduced as a result of the new internet economy provided a strong foundation which will foster future business innovations. In addition, in my many years of asset management and operational experiences, I have seen a great number of innovative business models, and successfully invested in these companies. Through these experiences, I have gained a deep understanding of the key characteristics and evaluation of innovative business models. Therefore, this paper focuses on the innovations in business models that are developed in this new eCommerce era.There has been detailed and systematic research done on eCommerce both domestically and internationally on the background of the industry, main drivers as well as on the key characteristics in the formation these new business models. From existing sources, it seems the majority of studies done on business model innovations come from the perspective of enterprise management, or from specific case studies. Through the development of eCommerce, there has been increasing research on the industry, which focuses on the definition, key characteristics of eCommerce. From existing sources, it is apparent that the majority of the research focuses on either the impact or the key characteristics of eCommerce. There are also studies on the new internet business model innovations, but these typically analyze and categorize the new innovations in eCommerce.This report will utilize the research done to date, and additionally include an analysis on the formation of new business models from an economic point of view. The first component of the will be a consolidated summary of existing industry studies, which highlights the key challenges and success factors of current innovative business models. It will go a level deeper by digesting the innovative business models resulting from eCommerce from an economic point of view, and ultimately deriving a conclusion on the benefits obtained from the new business environment. I will also offer my differentiated viewpoint on eCommerce landscape, which includes innovative eCommerce business models, the peripherals around eCommerce which will also benefit from the growth of the sector, changes that traditional business will experience in order to stay competitive with new market entrants, and monopolistic business models that will arise due to the changing competitive landscape in this new business environment. This paper will highlight the drivers, characteristics, and performance of certain fragmented markets, and will analyze relevant case studies.This paper will include 7 main chapters analyzing the new business models in eCommerce.Chapter One will be an introduction, a layout of the background and structure of the research; Chapter Two will be an overview of innovative business models, their respective requisites, the definition of eCommerce, and the key elements that are characteristic of eCommerce business models and a summary of existing empirical study results; Chapter Three will be the beginning of the thesis, which will focus on the key mechanisms of innovative business models in eCommerce, and will introduce three forms of business model innovations from an economic point of view; Chapter Four, Five, and Six will analyze various drivers, characteristics, and performance of different business models, and will attest those analysis through relevant case studies; Chapter Seven will be a conclusion of the above studies, followed with a policy recommendation.The main differentiators of the paper will be:First, it provided the context and the economic analysis of the various innovative eCommerce business models; Second, it provided a categorization of the three types of innovation business models in eCommerce, and an analysis of each. In addition, from a research perspective it provided a valuation of the enterprises, and the government's opinions and recommendations of the regulation of new business models. Of course, there are limitations to the paper as well. Due to the rapid growth and development of business model innovations, the basis of the analysis provided in the paper is based on existing case studies. As business model innovations continue to evolve, relevant research will need to be regurgitated in order to offer a complete and up-to-date view on the sector. In addition, due to the scare supply of relevant resources currently available, the research is lacking sufficient data and quantitative analysis.
