With the economic development and the progress of sciences and technology, the business environment of enterprises has tremendously changed. The market competition turns more severe than ever, and the theories and practice of strategic management have got booming development. Therefore it is inevitable and necessary to make a study of strategy, s performance measurement (SPM). As an advanced management means, SPM is more adaptable to modern enterprise management modes and operation principles than traditional performance measurement, and SPE seems more prosperous, overall and farsighted. As the theory and method are becoming mature, strategy, s performance measurement will play a more and more important role in the strategic management practice.Taking the current advanced management theories and chief strategy s performance measurement modes as its logical research point, this dissertation analyzes the acquired fruits of current strategy' s performance theories and methods, the pending problems, theoretical imperfectness and limitations in practice, on the basis of which the dissertation studies the strategy's performance measurement (SPM) theoretically and methodologically. The research contents include the strategy's performance measurement system, the definition of performance goal, the designing of measurement standards, the choice of index system, the establishment performance measurement models and the structures for performance analysis.This dissertation primarily discusses five problems about SPM (strategy' s performance measurement): (1) what are the advantages and limitations of current influential SPE modes? (2) How is SPE system composed and what factors are included; (3) what is the logical mechanism to design the performance goals, measurement standards and index sign? (4) How to establish an measurement model which reflects the strategy's business performance? (5) how to make a comprehensive analysis of the strategy 's business performance in a certain enterprise?In the process of research, this dissertation changes the research concept of performance measurement in the past,i.e.index prior to strategy's goals, and comparison to analysis, and make SPE an integrated system whose category is expanded to system factors, performance goals, measurement standards, measurement models and analysis approaches. As for the research viewpoint, this dissertation exceeds the past simple fashions of studying performance measurement purely from the viewpoint of strategy 's management science or from accounting science, synthesizes the theoretical essence of a number of schools to make the theoretical system more integrated and precise, which provides an overall key toproblems of what functions and how to function for SPM.The chief achievements in the dissertation are divided into three parts: First, the strategy performance measurement(SPM) system is a dynamic feed back track which includes the five essential elements(measurement principal part, measurement purpose, measurement object, measurement method and measurement conclusion).SPM research has three hypotheses as supervisor position, enterprises objectives and strategy s stages. The basic function of SPM is planning and controlling. The principal part is strategy constitutor. The measurement object is corporate business strategy. The external and internal environments of an organization influence the operation of the performance measurement system. Second, the performance goal is the central point of SPM system. The design of performance goals must adapt to the strategy s characteristics. The general definition of performance goal constructure is an innovation in the performance measurement system, which embodies the characteristics of flexibility, dynamics and long-range of strategy s goals. The SPE index consists of financial performance index and competence performance index. The Index Decomposing Umbrella(JD\J) is an innovative performance measurement index system which centers on strategy, and has explicit aim direction, implementation path and hierarchy, and it takes into account the balance of strategy s goals in the near future and those in a long-range. Third, SPE models and analysis frames are necessary parts in SPE system. The measurement model based on efficiency coefficient methods administrative levels method and factors analysis method is divided into three levels: Single-item index analysis, index sorting analysis and comprehensive performance analysis. The conclusions of comprehensive measurement reflect the overall operation condition, and reveal the degrees of accomplishing strategy s performance goals in a certain enterprise, the competitive advantages and disadvantages compared with its competitors, as well as its competitive station in the industry. Strategy s performance analysis should pay full attention to the early-warning information. Strategy s performance analysis frame consist of comprehensive analysis of finance performance, expert analysis of finance performance and analysis of competence performance. Concrete problems such as strategy, corporate development tendency and development potentials are also deeply analyzed in strategy s operation.
