Study On The Advantages In The International Competition Of Agricultural Products Of Northeast China

After the entry into WTO, the agricultural production and trade in China are regulated by its rules. On one hand, it provides a good opportunity for our country to get involved in the free world trade market; it also offers spacious room for C hina's agricultural production and trade, hence it w ill do good to the country's agricultural developm ent. O n the other hand, it brings restrictions onto C hina's agricultural production and trade, too. W ithin the W TO fram e, the agreements and commitments made by our government will influence the agricultural production and trade. In the past, our government took non-tariff measures, such as import quota and license, to protect our agriculture. With the entry into WTO and the step-by-step removal of non-tariff measures, the protection on our agriculture becomes weak, and our agricultural products are forced to compete directly with foreign ones in the world market. The competition has to be based on the advantages of our products. If our products don't get the upper hand on price over foreign products, the foreign ones will share more in both world and domestic markets. Our agriculture will certainly suffer from it greatly. Therefore, the research on the competition of our agricultural products is significant both in theory and practice.The agriculture in Northeast China ranks on the tops in the country. Besides, it is also the base of the comprehensive, harmonious and sustainable development of economy and society in Northeast China. Northeast China is the important wheat pool and the food supplies are the strategic bases for the nation's political and econom ic security. Food supply is the im portant material base for the plan of scientific development and key-area development; it is also the m ain part of our country's foreign trade and the key elem ent for the peaceful diplom atic route. Though the price in the world markets is not favorable for our crop exportation, exporting food supplies is to be strengthened since our country is a large country of agriculture and we tend to become a powerful country in agriculture. The products from Northeast China, such as corn, bean, and rice, and other agricultural and livestock products will play an important part in the world agricultural markets.Since the adoption of reinvigorating the old northeast industrial area, it is gradually recognized that agriculture is an important component of the plan. In term of the area economy, industry and scientific technology, especially the manufacturing, are the driving force of its development; agriculture is the base; service section is the guarantee for the area economy and value increase.
