| With the Scientific Concept of Development being advocated in these years, the issue of region development has been more and more scholar studying. It is necessary way to make scientific regional development stratagem and policy that deeply analyze the relation between the regional ecosystem and economic system, make division, and reasonably orient the function of every division, also has very important significance to promoting form sustainable spatial development pattern.Xinjiang is an important strategic resources base, also is a vital Opening portal in China. It's in a very important strategy position in national modernization construction, so this study choice Xinjiang as a case. From analyzing the coupling development of the ecosystem and economic system of Xinjiang; roundly collected and referred to the data of the state of economic and social development, such as industry, popular and town, the data of ecosystem development status such as landform, climate, land and water; reviewed some counties and cities from 2003 to 2006. Based on the means of analyzing literature, designing model and using GIS etc, the study thoroughly researched the coupling theory of Xinjiang ecosystem and economic system, the criterion of this coupling development, and eco-economical regionalization of Xinjiang. The results are as follows:1. The analysis of Xinjiang's position in nation development.Through a great deal of history literatures, the change of Xinjiang's position in nation development in all ages was analyzed and synthesized. Analysis show that: in historical period Xinjiang's politic position was more important than it's economic position, since the founding of new China it's politic and economic position has very rising, especially in current Xinjiang has remarkable position in national energy resources security and Opening up.2. The research of the coupling theory of Xinjiang ecosystem and economic system.Through the analysis of the nature environment evaluation and coupling history of ecosystem and economic system, it was thoroughly studied on the nature factors of ecology evolvement, the features of human economic action, and the interactions between the two systems. Based on the analysis, the theory of Xinjiang ecosystem and economic system coupling development was revealed.Analysis on Xinjiang's environment evolution course, show that: the arid environment had formed from the late cretaceous period, gradually developed to become stable in quaternary period, now the arid environment has not more change than in quaternary period. Mountain, oasis and desert are the base geography compositions. Since the last ice age, there has always been the climate fluctuation of dry and wet, hot and cold, in arid environment, it effects on the ecosystem by the moisture change. The oasis has been in the site affected by the runoff. The water source condition directly determined the size and existing of oasis. This is a base content of the conversion between oasis and desert in Xinjiang nature environment evolution.By the analysis on the features of economy and nature environment, and the interactions between them in historical period, especially by the analysis that combining the Li Jiangfeng's temperature variation curve in this 3000 years with the age-old oasis towns extinction events at the South edge of Tarim Basin, show that: in the historical period, the decisive role effected the age-old oasis towns extinction was climate, human activity aggravated the changes.By the analysis on Xinjiang modern ecologic environment and economy, show that: in current the key factor affects the coupling of ecosystem and economic system is human economic activities. On the one hand modern economic activities enlarged the artificial oasis areas and improved the production capacity of oasis ecosystem, on the other hand modern economic activities bring on some ecologic destruction such as nature oasis areas reducing, land desertification, industry pollution, biodiversity damage and so on.Combining the analysis on Xinjiang's environment evolution course with the features of ecosystem and economy coupling history, the coupling theory of Xinjiang ecosystem and economic system was revealed, that is: oasis is the core of the coupling between ecosystem and economic system, water resources is the key factor. The oasis provides the most basic water, soil and biologic resources for human activities. It's the material foundation of economic system existence. While economic activities has strongly interference effect on the transformation between oasis and desert, and this interference effect plays by changing the water resources distribution patter.3. The assessment of Xinjiang ecosystem and economic system coupling level.By analysis on the meaning of inter coupling development of ecosystem and economic system, the assessment mathematic model, criterion and the indicator system to evaluate the coupling development level were bring forward. Using them, the ecosystem and economic system coupling level of all counties and cities in Xinjiang were estimated. The results show that the whole coupling development level of ecosystem and economic system is very low, and there are very big differences in 86 different counties and cities of Xinjiang. They could been sorted five development level: 2.32% of the number of all counties and cities are in harmonious level, 23.25% are in low-level coordinated level, 37.2% are in lightly uncoordinated level, 27.9% are in medium uncoordinated level, 9.3% are in serious uncoordinated level. In addition, there are eight coupling development types in all counties and cities: harmonious development of economy predominating type, harmonious development of synchronous type, low-level coordinated development of ecosystem development backward type, low-level coordinated development of synchronous type, lightly uncoordinated development of economy backward type, lightly uncoordinated development of ecosystem damaged type, medium uncoordinated development of economy profit damaged type, serious uncoordinated and economy profit damaged development type.4. The analysis of the eco-economic factors spatial distribution in Xinjiang.It was roundly summed on the spatial pattern of the key factors of Xinjiang ecosystem and economic system coupling. They are the leading resources of economic development, oasis, water resources, population and town system. By the deeply analysis on the industrial structure in Xinjiang, show that the leading resources of Xinjiang economic development are cultivated land and mineral resources.5. The eco-economic regionalization in Xinjiang.By thoroughly summed and reviewed the concept, theory based and technology method of eco-economic regionalization, the principle of eco-economic regionalization was made, and using the way of"superincumbent division"together with the way of"from bottom to top", the method of spatial analysis and clustering analysis, the scheme of eco-economic regionalization in Xinjiang was put forward, it's measure off four big eco-economic areas and twenty one eco-economic regions.6. The function orientation to each eco-economic region.The concept of eco-economic region function orientation was defined, that is planning the eco-economic unit to exert the function in the more high hierarchy region development pattern that can be able to promote the whole region to sustainable development. The basis of eco-economic region function orientation was put forward, that is standing on the region ecosystem and economic system harmoniously coupling developing, on the comparative advantages and the key function, on the plan of region development, on the strategic significance of the region development. By the analysis of location quotient, the resource and industry comparatively predominance of every region were estimated. The distributing of the very essentiality ecosystem function regions was summarized. Combining that basis with analysis on the economy and ecologic predominance of every region, and the coupling development status, the functions of each region were oriented.Creation in this thesis can be summarized as the following points:1. The position of Xinjiang in China development pattern was roundly analyzed and summarized.2. The coupling theory of Xinjiang ecosystem and economic system is revealed, the assessment mathematic model, criterion and the indicator system to evaluate the coupling development level are put forward.
