Empirical Research On The Influence Of Knowledge Diffusion Patterns Of Focal Firms On Knowledge Acquisition Performance Based On Network Embeddedness

With the rapid development of science and technology and the intensification of the world-globlal market competition, knowledge diffusion issues are beginning to gain more and more attentions and be attached more and more importance in recent years. The essence of knowledge diffusion is to step up the effective combination of innovation factors, improve the innovation capability; and, it is about the national innovation impetus and core competition in nature. Therefore, it is important and urgent to focus on the study of how to accelerate the knowledge diffusion since it's the base of studies like technology innovation, knowledge accumulation and etc. Consequently, the study of knowledge diffusion patterns had become a hot issue in the theoretical circles. The former studies on knowledge diffusion patterns either focused on the knowledge transfer mode and mechanism study, which developed many modes to describe the diffusion process, nature and effects; or focused on the structure combination of knowledge transfer and diffusion. Those that relates to knowledge diffusion in network are only simple analyses of the relationship between knowledge diffusion and following products. What's more, it is clear that under the more and more complex and changing environments of markets and technologies, it is hard for the former studies to explain the diversity of effects of different knowledge diffusion patterns on the diffusion results.Through thorough reading and summaries of all kinds of literatures, according to the unique characteristics of focal firms in technology innovation network, it is studied in this paper the effects of different knowledge diffusion patterns on knowledge acquisition performance; and, it is introduced in the knowledge diffusion activities the moderate effects of network embeddedness (structural embeddedness and relational embeddedness), with relative models being set up. On such bases, hypotheses are put forward; useful data are collected and analyzed, and thus the issues mentioned above are studied. On the basis of analysis on empirical results, the intrinsic relationship of knowledge diffusion patterns of focal firms and knowledge acquisition performance are testified. And, the moderate effects of network embeddedness to the above relationships are also analyzed. It is also exposed how to choose different knowledge diffusion patterns, how to bring the network embededness into full play to carry out effective knowledge diffusion activities to creat higher knowledge acquisition performance.It is mainly an empirical study of this paper by theoretical analysis and investigating and collecting valid data from all kinds of enterprises. The model is set up and testified by combining network embeddedness, knowledge diffusion patterns of focal firms, and knowledge acquisition performance. More innovations are as follows:(1) The Theoretical Model with the main elements being focal firms' knowledge diffusion patterns, knowledge acquisition performance and network embeddedness are established after summarizing and integrating relative researches.It is found out that there is still no mature and systematic definition on focal firms' knowledge diffusion patterns. In fact, on the one side, the knowledge diffusion activities could affect knowledge acquisition performance; on the other side, with different knowledge diffusion patterns being adopted, there can be different influences on knowledge acquisition performance. What's more, it is quite necessary to study the moderate effect of network embeddedness on the above relationship. Therefore, on the basis of theoretic analysis and literature review, combined with practical background, the conceptual model of this paper is put forward.(2) The different effects of knowledge diffusion patterns of focal firms on knowledge acquisition performance under the network environments are studied. And corresponding conclusions are reached;(3) It is studied respectively how the moderate effects of structural embeddedness and relational embeddedness are fuctioned. And corresponding conclusions are reached;(4) The collected data are analyzed, and the hypotheses and the model are testified with corresponding conclusion being drawn. Finally, some suggestions for the practices are put out.
