A Study On Trade Frictions Between U.S. And Japan Since 1945

US-Soviet hegemony since the Second World War and the polarization of East-West confrontation for half a century have made a serious drain on the comprehensive national strength of the United States and undermined American international economic competitiveness,while Japan took advantage of the polarization pattern,has recovered rapidly and developed the national economy under American military protection,creating a world-renowned "Japanese miracle",forging aggressive challenges to American economic competitiveness.US-Japan trade frictions since 1945 have become the focus issues of economic competition between two countries.US-Japan cotton textile trade friction in the mid-1950s was the beginning of the US-Japan trade friction,the steel and automobile trade frictions were concrete manifestations of the upgrading phase,after the Cold War,US-Japan trade negotiations had made the US-Japan trade friction rising to a new phase.This paper makes an overview of main performances of trade frictions and discusses the reasons of US-Japan trade frictions as well as the economic impacts on the two countries and the world.
