On the basis of synthesizing the basic theory of reliability engineering, a typical marine power station automation control system is researched. To combine with the operating characteristics of the control system, the reliability modelings of non-repairable systems and repairable systems were completed by using a variety of reliability analysis method. The analysis method of fault tree and its engineering applications were systematically studied. The result of this study could be summarized as follow:First, the theory of reliability prediction for marine power station and its automatic control system, will adopt reliability counting method and component stress analysis method. After determining the failure rate of elements and components, the failure rate of the system’s units and subsystems will be predicted, finally the failure rate of the system can calculated.Second, through combining with engineering practice of the marine power station and its automation control system, it can conclude that a special method for marine power station protection unit when its reliability modeling and reliability prediction. Thus, all these can help propose an effective method for predicting the reliability of marine power station more scientifically and accurately.Third, the reliability block diagrams and its mathematical models will be modeled on different operating conditions. Then, the reliability and mean time between failures (MTBF) of marine power station are obtained on different work conditions. The marine power station reliability acquired from different work conditions accords with the actual operating mode.Forth, in order to solve computing problems of the reliability of general electric redundant systems, especially the computing problems of the maintenance, the general electric redundant repairable systems’ availability and reliability of the mathematical model is established with Markov process mathematical model from dynamic reliability analysis theory. Then, the redundant repairable systems’availability and reliability can be derived, at the same time the simple way to solve the steady-state availability of complex systems can be gotten. At last, the mathematical modeling theory, which was stated before, will be applied on marine power station control system as a engineering application.Fifth, Fault Tree Analysis, which comes from static reliability technical analysis theory, would be applied to marine power station to solve the prevalent problems that it is very hard to maintenance and management on large and complex electrical control systems of ships. The fault tree of marine power station would be created, then the user program would be programmed, then the qualitative and quantitative analysis of marine power station fault tree would be completed, at last marine power station repair and maintenance guides, just like practical fault tree and troubleshooting flowchart what work for on-site repairer and administrator, would be written.
