The Research On Adapatability Of Daily Space And Environment For The Aged In Chongqing City Communities

Population aging caused the research on community appropriate for the aged. Before 2010, Shanghai, Beijing were be recognized the highest degree of aging in China, this concept made appropriate design and study for the aged concentrated in these cities. The Sixth Census 2010 showed Chongqing was the higheset degree of aging in China, unique geographical conditions of Chongqing caused the exsiting studies and experiences unsuitable. Because of this, research on community appropriate for the aged of Chongqing should be paid attention.Because of Chongqing has a unicque urban development model made city and rural areas with huge differences, rapid urbanizations and complexity of terrain conditions made constructions of communities appropriate for the aged in cities need theretical guidance urgenly. From 2000 to date domestic research situation, the exsiting research focused on the community planning for the aged, the dwelling design for the aged, and the community nursing facilities, the research on community public space and environment for the aged is not paid enough attention. Therefore, this article pays attention to city community public space and environment for the aged of Chongqing.This study makes the ederly with full self-care or after slight assist to use the community public space and environment as research subjects which include different aging conditions, health status and living status elderly. Community public space and environment for the aged means two levels of meaning. Firstly, community public space and enrionmen for the aged should be shared by the aged with different aging conditions, health status and living status, such as healthy elderly, diseased elderly, disabled elderly, empty nesters, elderly careing their grandchilresn and so on. Secondly, because of aging caused the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases and disabilities, part of the elderly are both the disabilities and patients, the community public space and environment which appriprate to the elderly could also be shared by non-elderly disabilities and patients. Community public space and environment appriprate for the aged means suitability for other groups including elerly and non-elderly with similar physical characteristics and living conditions.In views of the above, this paper firstly researched the daily activities and space requirements of diversity and compatibility elderly, then, based on the geographical conditions of Chongqing, this paper researched the background and characteristics of community public space and environment appropriate for the aged, the space model and design strategies were also be studied to application.The conclusion of this research as follows:Firstly, the characters of daily activities and space requirements of Chongqing elderly could be summarized as compactness, hierarchy, facilitativeness and inclusiveness. Secondly, the current constructions of community public space and envrionemt appropriate for the aged was not so good. The spatial structure, functions, morphology and managerment were with an uncontrolled mechanism which caused by the lack of land and complex topography. All theses made the elderly evalueated low appraisals on safty, comveniece and comfort.
