An Ecological Optimization Design For Public Space Of Aged Residence Community From The Perspective Of Livability

As one of the markers of modern urban ecological balance, ecologization of residential areas is a new trend in the studies of residence during recent years. Ecologization is a crucial part of the living environment, of the urban greening system, and of the urban ecological environment. Building ecological communities is an integration of architecture, ecology, sociology and so forth. It fully embodies the idea of harmony between man and nature, which is in line with the community development model of sustainable development. Optimizing the ecological environment of the residence not only creates a pleasant environment for outdoor recreation, but also provides a healthy and comfortable space for residents. With the development of the society, the old settlements in many ways can hardly meet the needs of modern life, hindering the advancement of residential living quality and exerting a negative effect on the cityscape. It should be pointed out that the public space is the most relevant factor, because the quality of public space has a significant impact on citizens'daily lives and the overall image of the city.This paper centers on the old communities that are typical and universal in the city. Through the theoretical study and field research of old settlements, and guided by the latest means of ecologizing residential areas at home and abroad, it analyzes the security, accessibility, efficiency, the degree of comfort and culture of public space in old residence. Under the perspective of livable and pleasant living condition, it explores the renovation strategies from the aspects of space needs, space communication, transportation systems, regional culture, eco-green, public participation. By a case study of a typical old residential area in Nanjing, this research put forwards effective and applicable ecological optimization measures to inject these places with vigor and vitality so as to play an important role in urban residence, thus realizing the harmonious and healthy development featuring people-orientation and returning to the nature.
