Objective: To study the evolution source and diversity face of “Shen“theory in“HuangDi Neijing” and discuss the connotation and structure of “Shen” conceptMethod: Making literature systematization and neaten shen theory in HuangdiNeijing, and Abstract the text of shen theory and relevant concepts----hun, po, yi, zhi,ect.Clear up above concepts in the pre-qin period literature, make documentarycomparison,adopt methods of geneticist to inspect the forming track of shen and takeexample from methods of textualism to unscramble the connotation of shen theory.Result:1.The diverse meanings of Shen in Huangdi Neijing inherit from the philosophers inpre-qin period. In the book Huangdi Neijing, the Theory of Jing and Qi is the frameworkand the Theory of Yin and Yang and the Five Elements are adopted as methods to organizethe Shen system info in TCM. It is a development and creation of Shen in pre-qin period.At the same time, the theory of Shen is immature,therefore, it is combined not so well withthe system of five elements and five internal organs. That reflects the problem in thecombination between medical practical experience and philosophical theory in theDoctrine of viscera state.2.The implication of Shen was deities and ghosts simple from the Xizhou dynasty tothe Spring and Autumn Period and being a adjective gradually, possessed the meaning ofmagical and wonderful.The theory of Shen in TCM uses medical experience as materials, the theory of Jingand Qi as framework, the theory of Yin and Yang and the Five Elements as methods tocomplete Shen system info structure. The theory of five organs storing Shen is createdbased on the five elements and there is rationality as well as immaturity.In the period of qin and han, the TCM was affected by the theory of wuxing,developed the theory of five internal organs Shen and inherit the complex meaning of Shen which existed in pre-qin dynasty at the same time.3. From the view of geneticist, the process of Shen’s development is spirit-ghost-philosiphy-medcine.Conclusion: From discussing and analysing the connotation and expression of Shenin Huangdi Neijing.And posing that because of inheriting the implication of Shen in Pre-qin period, the meaning of Shen became complex.
