Arachis hypogaea L. (Leguminosae) is a folk medicine for the treatment of a variety of human diseases, such as insomnia, hypertension, children’s crying in the night, brain arteriosclerosis and tracheitis. Among them, 1 was a new compounds.R. ellipticus Smith var. obcordatus Focke is a shrub, belonging to the family Rosaceae, which is commonly distributed in Sichuan, Yunan, Shanxi, Guizhou Province in China. Different parts of the plant have been widely used as folk medicines for the treatment of a variety of human diseases, such as detumescence, acesodyne, detoxifcation, treatment of bacterial dysentery, tonsillitis, icteric hepatitis. A chemical investigation on R. ellipticus Smith var. obcordatus Focke resulted in the isolation of 33 compounds. 23 of them were identified as rubuside A (R1) , rubuside B (R2) , rubuside C (R3) , rubuside D (R4) , alpinoside (R5) , rubuside E (R6) , rubuside F (R7) , rubuside G (R8) , rubuside H (R9) , 2α,3β,23-trihydroxyurs-12,18-dien-28-oic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (R10) , 2α,3β,23-trihydroxyurs-12,19-dien-28-oic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (R11) , 2α,3β,23-trihydroxyurs-12,19(29) -dien-28-oic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (R12) , 2α,3α,19α-trihydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (R13) , 2α,3β,19α-trihydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (R14) , 3-O-α-L-arabinopyranosyl-19a-hydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (R15) , 2α,3α,19α,23-tetrahydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (R16) , 2α,3β,19α,23-tetrahydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (R17) , 2α,3β,19α,24-tetrahydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (R18) , 3β,19α,23-trihydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (R19) , 2α,3α,19α-trihydroxyurs-12-en-23-formyl-28-oic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (R20) , 2α,3β,19α-trihydroxyurs-12-en-23-formyl-28-oic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (R21) , 2α,3β,19α-trihydroxyurs-12-en-23,28-dioic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (R22) , 2α,3β,19α-trihydroxyurs-12-en-24,28-dioic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (R23) , Among them, 1-4 and 6-9 were new compounds.
