Among all kinds of art and culture works, the migrant workers as a special groupof people are considered an important representative of the modern society. Migrantworkers not only contribute to development and prosperity of our cities, and describethe process of China’s modern history with their blood, sweat and lives, but also, theyhas been living in the bottom of society because of freedom of the system and thepower of discourse. Therefore, the real living conditions of the migrant workers in thecity are still often excluded by the mainstream of society, even if the migrant workersliving in every corner of our cities. To a certain extent, they are more like a stealthclass in this society, and be silence in various corners of the city. The identity of themigrant workers has their own characteristics, they are not like ordinary farmers, andthey live and work in the city, but they do not belong to the city and do not belong tothe city lives. Migrant literature fights for the city’s right to exist and the right to speak.And this is precisely meeting the concern of the elite of society to the bottom ofsociety, also to meet the traditional psychology of their salvation.In this paper the author cut from multiple angles, and conducted in-depthresearch and analysis of "migrant workers" in the contemporary Chinese literature.First, the author described the status of Chinese contemporary migrant literature,reasons for the rise, ideological values and social functions, as well as the lack ofmigrant literature.
