The Chinese Taoist culture has a significant influence on the formation anddevelopment of Chinese culture. Since the immortality faith culture in Qin and HanDynasties, in the long history of the formation and development of the Taoist culture inChina, there has accumulated rather profound and abundant Taoist cultural resources.Taoism treasures life, worships immortal and reveres nature, which has generated theTaoist cultural resources in the fields of health preserving, music, medicine and ecologyetc, and these cultural resources constantly develop in innovation. The Taoist culturalproducts and service influence the thoughts of the Chinese, and are closely related to theformation of living customs and the design of health methods. The development andindustrialization of Taoist cultural resources presented in this paper directly originatesfrom the analysis of the importance of Taoist cultural resources in China. Through thesorting, comparison and reflection on the Taoist cultural resources, from the perspectiveof industrial economy, the economic value of Taoist cultural resources is fullyrecognized and evaluated with a rational and scientific attitude and the competitivenessof its regional advantage is analyzed, which provides reference for the mode design ofthe development and industrialization of Taoist cultural resources. From the perspective of culturology, the paper not only introduces thetypes, formation and development of Taoism culture and its resources, but also concludesthat the Taoism culture resources results from human’s labor, and are useful andmultifunctional. At the same time, the paper applies evaluation model to analyze theeconomic value of Taoism culture resources.I hold the view that the resources arespecial types of quasi-public goods. They have comparative advantages and regionalcompetitiveness, and can be developed as culture industry. However,Taoism cultureresources are religious,so the development and industrialization of them should matchwith national conditions, the characteristics of these resources and principle ofsustainable development. The paper also applies comparative advantage theory, industrycluster theory and SWOT method to study comparative advantage and competitivenessof Taoism culture resources in city management, development of ecologicaleconomy,Cultural Industry Quarter and regional economic development. Moreover, mypaper shows fundamental reasons that why firms and the government care about Taoismculture resources as well as sheds light on the development and industrialization ofTaoism culture resources and discusses the corresponding various types. From the perspective of management science and based on existed research, this paper proposessome suggestions about managing Taoism culture resources, strengthening governmentregulation, defining their property right, building cooperation between the eastern andwestern part of country and promoting the Taoism culture and “going out”services. The paper is composed of seven chapters. The first chapter is “Introduction”,mainly describing the time background, international background and historicalbackground of the research on the development and industrialization of Taoism culturalresources and the significance, sorting and remarking the literature related toindustrialized development of Taoist cultural resources, and putting forward theorientation and focus of the research. The second chapter “the retrospect and prospect of the development of Taoistculture”, first describes the formation and development of the religious culture in theworld and in China. From the influence of religious culture on Chinese history, immortality culture, ritual culture, festival culture, art culture, health preserving culture, ecological culture and harmonious ideas, it makes a comparative analysis of the valuefunction of religious culture. A detailed analysis is in this chapter, in order to point outthat Taoist culture is a “bonanza” which contains a variety of resources to be “mined”.The third chapter “the formation and development of Taoist cultural resources”,probes into the “resource” concept in the Taoist culture in China. It originates from theevolution of the Taoist cultural resources and the influence of systems in Han and Weidynasties, East and West Jin dynasties, northern and southern dynasties, Sui and Tangdynasties, the Northern Song dynasty, Southern Song dynasty, the Ming and Qingdynasties and the Republic of China, including the “Cave Paradise” Taoist culturalresources, Taoist immortal cultural resources, Taoist cradle cultural resources, Taoistarchitecture cultural resources, Taoist ritual cultural resources, Taoist music culturalresources, Taoist health preserving culture resources, Taoist goodness persuadingcultural resources and the Taoist ecology cultural resources. In this chapter, the authornot only explores the connotation and growth of all kinds of Taoist cultural resources, but also observes the multiple significance of Taoist cultural resources to the economy, society, ecology and life, from the ecological view of the Taoist cultural “resources” of“man integrated to nature”, the morality of “respecting Tao and treasuring virtue”, andthe ultimate goal of the "harmonious coexisting" life view. In addition, it is pointed outin this chapter that today, we should take an "awe" attitude, to treat these valuable "The fourth chapter "Taoist cultural resources evaluation"mainly discusses the "economic view" of the Taoist cultural resources. First, it discusses the conditionelements, value elements, utility factors, anticipation of development and the inheritableability of the Taoist cultural resources, designs an evaluation index system for the Taoistcultural resources, and formulates the assessment measurement table for the evaluationof Longhu Mountain Taoist cultural resources. According to the experts in Taoist culture, the core effect of Taoist cultural resources in the tourism of Longhu Mountain isaffirmed, also with a lot of potential.Chapter five "regional impact of Taoist cultural resources", points out the conceptof regional cultural “competitiveness” of Taoist culture resources. The abundance of theTaoist cultural resources is surely one aspect which influences the regional economicdevelopment, but what is more important is the need to integrate regional talents, capital, and market and so on to form the competitiveness of the regional cultural industry.Formulate the “going out” strategy in the eastern region, taking advantage of the meritsof the eastern region in talents, technology, capital and market to carry out deepindustrialized development of the Taoist cultural resources. Focus on the refinement andexcellence of the Taoist cultural products, to take the lead in promoting Taoist culturalproducts and cultural service to “go out”; Design the "welcome" strategy for the centralregions, the abundance of Taoist culture resources in central China is its corecompetitiveness in “welcome to”. Focus should be put on the strengthening andpurification of Taoist cradle culture and health preserving culture, to attract the believersin Taoism at home and abroad and social tourists interested in Taoist culture; Formulatethe “regional development strategy” for the western region. In the western region, thetourist basis is good and the Taoist cultural resources are rich, forming its “doubleadvantages”. Emphasis should be put on strengthening and improving its externalenvironment, by attracting tourists from the Southeast Asian countries through thecooperation platform with ASEAN, and implementing the strategies “going out” and“welcome to” for the Taoist cultural products.Chapter six “the research on the development and industrialization of Taoistcultural resources in China”, discusses the “development view” of the development andindustrialization of Taoist cultural resources. First it explains the public goods theoryand the definitions of public goods theory, the Taoist cultural resources and products, and economic theory of product nature, comparative advantage theory and the influenceof Taoist cultural resources on regional economic development, and industrial clustertheory and the construction of industrial park for Taoist cultural resources; it analyzes the problems existing in the development and industrialization of Taoist culturalresources, thinking that there are three aspects: the industrial development scale is notbig enough to form scale economic benefits; the industry chain has not yet been formed, with resources to be further integrated; lack of safeguard mechanism for theindustrialized operation of the Taoist cultural resources, lack of strength inindustrialized development. The integrated and single operation modes of industrializedoperation of cultural resources at home and abroad are investigated. In the integratedmode, the ancient city mode, ecological mode and park mode provide reference for thecentral and western regions with rich Taoist cultural resources, while the single mode isinstructive to the eastern region with relatively less Taoist cultural resources. Based onthe successful cases at home and abroad, the development and industrialization mode ofLonghu Mountain Taoist cultural resources is designed.Chapter seven“conclusion and policy recommendations” makes a conclusion onthe study of the development and industrialization of Taoist cultural resources, and putsforward policy suggestions. The main conclusion is:"the development andindustrialization of Taoist culture resources" is an effective way to protect and inheritthe Taoist cultural resources. The Taoism cultural products and services generated by theextensive and profound Taoist culture resources are just like the Chinese “wine” and“tea”, which can not only be shared by the Chinese, but also can be enjoyed by peoplearound the world. The “Chinese flavor” enters the world and the “Chinese immortals”wander leisurely around the world is the ultimate state of the “Chinese dream”.Recommendations: establish the property system for the Taoist cultural resources, toclarify its identity and leave precious cultural heritage for future generations; set up thesupport and service system for the development and industrialization of Taoist culturalresources, which is an important measure to promote the development andindustrialization of Taoist cultural resources; carry out protective restoration for theTaoist cultural resources with significant value and influence, which is an important partof the Chinese culture development strategy; without the support of the country, it willbe hard for the Taoism cultural products and services to “go out”.Based on the reference and absorption of existing research results, this thesis putsforward the following new ideas:(1)Analyzing the resources and economic values of Taoism in the perspective ofindustrial economics, and taking Taoism as a “useful” resource. But for the centralresource of Taoism, namely the culture of belief, is by no means suitable to be developed as an economic resource, which is fundamental for Taoism to survive andpassing down.(2)Putting forward the idea of protecting and passing down the Taoism bydeveloping and industializing, given that traditional Taoism resource is well protected. Itincorporates property rights economics, industrial economics, as well as publiceconomics as the solid theory backgroudn, and takes Taoism resource as specialquasi-public goods, which is able to be industrialized; It also designs the sustainabledevelopment policies for protecting and developing Taoism based on its law of gowth;By using the industrial economics theories of comparative advantages and industrialconcentration, it analyzes and compares the advantages and competitiveness of Taoismresources, which can then be utilized in city management, ecotour development, andcultural industry zones construction, consequently accelarating the development ofurbanization, ecological economy, and culture industries in the process of industrialstructure adjustment and reginal economic development.(3)Analyze the economic value of Taoist cultural resources with methods ofevaluation, SWOT, cases, research, together with the cultural resources evaluationmodel; Using SWOT method to analyze the influence effects of Taoist culturalresources in the area of regional economic development; Based on the experience ofinternational and domestic cases, I have designed Longhu Mountain World Taoistculture-centric model; Innovate the way of culture trade and promote Taoist culturalproducts through the way of trade ("going out") and the change of "send out" to "sell";Develop the market operation advantages of enterprise, deeply excavate Taoist culturalresource value, changing "resource" into "product"; Look for varied answers to thechallenging proposition of "Taoist cultural resource development and industrialization"with the help of field research.
