In today's society,agricultural science and technology are flourishing and the process of agricultural modernization is accelerating markedly.As an emerging technical tool,agricultural drones are gradually playing an important role in human life,which has a substantial impact on the current agricultural production methods.However,at present,Chinese books introducing this tool are rare in China.There are also not many related translation works.Therefore,the writer selected a book about the latest research results in order to provide more reference information for domestic researchers and promote the research and application for agricultural drones in China.The source text of this translation practice report is Agricultural Drones: A Peaceful Pursuit,and the seventh chapter is the translation material.The chapter mainly describes the application of drones in agricultural disease/pest control and global agrarian belts protection.There are many agricultural terminology including unit names,compound words and derivative words in this chapter,which is difficult for the writer to translate.So it's necessary to regard it as research focal point and summarize its translation methods.Therefore,the writer tried to take terminology translation theory and the four basic translation principles as guiding standards to explore the translation methods of agricultural terms in agricultural science.The principles as follow: convention principle,exactness principle,conciseness principle and scientific principle.This report is composed of five parts.In the first part,the translation project background and significance were illustrated.The second part is the text interpretation,including text content and text features.The third part described the translation process,involving translation preparation,problems and relevant solutions in the translation process and proofreading.The fourth part is terminology translation theory and the basic principles of translation summarized by the writer according to the terms in the original text.The fifth part is the case analysis.The author classifies the terms in the original text as unit names,compound terminology and derivativewords.The author explore the translation of unit names including the zero translation of basic unit and the filling-up translation of derived unit.The translation of compound terminology involve the literal translation of compound terminology as original meaning,the free translation of compound terminology as extended meaning and the mixed translation of compound terminology as original meaning and extended meaning.The author analyse the translation of derivative words involving the combination translation of the derivatives reserving basic semantic and the revision translation of the derivatives changing basic semantic.The last part is the conclusion.Through the translation practice,the writer aims to summarize some translation methods of agricultural texts so as to provide some references for similar texts.
