The works Sanwonjaeo Interpreter analyzed in this paper is a kind of Chinese textbook compiled by the Translation Department in the late Chosen Dynasty, which was aimed at facilitating the translators accompanying Korean Ambassadors to China. Local conditions, customs, etiquettes and political system were introduced in the book. Writing of the book was traced back to 1630, and its publishing to 1670; it took a long of 40 years from writing to publishing. Therefore, it is believed that the works Sanwonjaeo Interpreter is enough to reflect language characteristics throughout the whole 17th century. During that same time, some similar literatures existed, including Interpreter Nokeoltae (I, II; 1670), Interpreter Piao Tongshi (I, II, III; 1677) and Cheob-hai-sin-eo Interpreter (10 volumes; 1676). Interpreter Nokeoltae and Interpreter Piao Tongshi inherited the contents and languages in Translation Nokeoltae and Translation Piao Tongshi. Cheob-hai-sin-eo Interpreter is a Japanese textbook published in Korean Dynasty, which doesn’t have much of the topic. So it is suggested that Sanwonjaeo Interpreter is the only literature published in the 17th century; and it is believed that Sanwonjaeo Interpreter plays a vital role in studying the language characteristics throughout the 17th century.In view of this, the writing date, edition as well as the annotation, the pronunciation of Chinese characters, words and syntax in the Sanwonjaeo Interpreter will be studied in the thesis. There are 7 chapters in the paper as follows:The first chapter is the introduction. First, by comparing with other Chinese Textbooks in the Korean era, significance of this topic is made clearly, which is followed by the research aim and methods. Research achievements are summarized at the last part, and shorcomings are pointed out so as to develop the direction of this paper.Further exploring to the topic is discussed in Chapter 2. First of all, according to the collected photocopies, combined with related knowledge of history, writing date of the book is tracked down. Secondly, copies kept in China, Japan and South Korean respectively are compared to find out the similarities and differences. Finally, the compilation features of the book are discussed so as to make clear the role it plays in the second-language teaching field.Chapter 3 analyzes the annotation in the book. Firstly, annotations made by China, Japan and South Korean are analyzed comparatively. Mistakes are discriminated and causes to differences are explored. Then, more scientific annotation to the book is explained on the basement of the knowledge of history, geography, customs, culture, language and so on. Finally, by consulting the tool books in the ancient, modern and contemporary times, some problems in characters and vocabularies are discussed.The fourth chapter explored the pronunciation of Chinese characters. First of all, the pronunciation of Chinese characters is divided into initial consonant and vowel sound, and detailed classification are made according to Guangyun and the corresponding relationship between Chinese and Korean. Secondly, starting from the diachronic perspective, the historical development from the ancient times to the modern and contemporary times is studied. Then, from the synchronic point of view, compared with the pronunciation of Chinese characters in other contemporary Chinese textbooks in South Korean, identify and repair the Sanwonjaeo Interpreter; finally, according to the above analysis of past and present, pointed out the features of the pronunciation of Chinese characters and observe the whole phonological system throughout the seventeenth Century to the modern times.The fifth chapter goes to the features of lexicon. Some representative parts of speech, such as locative, pronouns, numbers, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and auxiliary are discussed. (1) for the locative words, we give it a "-post", pick up locatives in 9 cases, such as above, under, inside, in, outside, in front of, behind, in the middle of.(2) for pronouns, we mainly study the personal pronouns, demonstrative pronouns, interrogative pronouns and reflexive pronouns, explores the sources and characteristics from the diachronic perspective; (3) as for the numbers, on the basis of classification analysis, we focus on the analysis of some specific phenomenon, such as noun suffix, "indefinite numbers+ER" structure; for adverbs, we divided them into the time adverb, scope adverb, degree adverbs, modal adverbs, negative adverbs and adverbs of association, some can represent the features of language during the seventeenth Century; (5) in terms of the preposition, based on the classification of the investigation, using situation in the book are analyzed; (6) for conjunctions, grammaticalization path are discussed; (7) for the auxiliary, mainly discusses the function of the representative dynamic auxiliary Zhe, the history division of DE, and the discourse function of HE.The sixth chapter is the syntactic part. Firstly, we mainly discuss some typical sentences, including causative sentences (such as "teach/Jiao" sentence), disposal sentence (such as "the" sentences, comparative sentences (such as "than" words and some box type structure) and determinative sentence (such as "is" word to judge sentences and "is" the other grammatical function); secondly, we discuss some fixed sentence structure with a representative "(Prep+locative words (+locative)+VP" structure and "(x) than+Y+ in general structure composition and characteristics.The seventh chapter is the conclusion. First, summarized the above discussion and listed the achievements in the paper. Secondly, it is pointed out that some of the inadequacies of this study and future needs to solve the problem.
