There are a lot of similar forms and pronunciation of characters in Chinese. Is therea relationship between the similar characters and misused characters written by foreignstudents? How much does it influence the foreign students learn the Chinese characters?We consider it as the issue of concern. Proceed from the Chinese characters form andpronunciation, the paper analyzes its impact on foreign students who wirte misusedcharacters on the basis of first rate800Chinese characters from the old version of HSK.This paper is divided into three parts. The ifrst part mainly analyzes the studentfs"misused characters collected from HSK Dynamic Composition C"orpus of the BeijingLanguage and Culture University, as well as “Chinese Characters Bias Continuity inI”nterlanguage Corpus of Sun Yat-Sen University. Based on the data, we classify themistakes into four categories: the similar form misused characters, the similarpronunciation misused characters, the form and pronunciation arc similar misusedcharacters, and unrelated form and pronunciation misused characters (which i’sn t in therange of paper). For the rest three major categories, we divided it into17small categories.According to the statistical results, the characters of similar form and pronunciation havethe biggest influence on foreign students who write misused characters. The second issimilar pronunciation characters and the last one is similar form characters. In statistics,wc also found that there is a positive correlation between the learning level and thequantity of misused characters.The second part mainly analyzes the correlation between the form and pronunciationof Chinese characters and misused characters that foreign students written. Meanwhile,wc briefly analyzes the reasons why foreign students write the misused characters basedon the Chinese characters itself and students language background. According to our data.it can be divided into subjective and objective reasons. The objective reason is that there are a lot of similar form and pronunciation characters in Chinese. These Chinesecharacters bring some trouble to the students. And the subjective reason is that studentsare affected by mother tongue processing strategy and different learning strategies. Someforeign students used to sound code or sound-mean code, but these two kinds ofencoding are different from Chinese characters encoding process.The third part is that we proposed some teaching suggestions for the classificationand statistical results from the first. These suggestions mainly talk about how to teachingChinese characters such as strokes, components, pictophmetic characters. When we teach,we should pay attention to the learning interest, and enhance impression when studentslearn the Chinese characters. Based on the statement above, we should also pay attentiont’o the cultivation of students Chinese characters orthographic awareness, in order toimprove their ability to distinguish Chinese characters.
