Research On Contemporary Foreign Armies’ Logistics And The Enlightenment

After the cold war, the new military revolution of the world entered a period of accelerated development. In order to adapt to the adjustment of the military strategy and the army-building guideline and to construct logistics meeting the need of battle requirement of the 21st century, the foreign armed forces have carried out a comprehensive reform in terms of organization system, security theory, means and patterns of logistical support, in an effort to seize the high ground in the new round of the military competition through logistical revolution.The thesis deliberates on the American army, the Russian army and the Japanese army as the study subjects, by comprehensively applying the research methods such as history studying, document indexing and problem analyzing, conducts a comprehensive, systematic, and in-depth study on the related issues of logistical support of contemporary foreign armies. The main content is as follows:firstly, the thesis reviews and overviews the basic information of army logistical support in the era of cold arms, gunpowder arms, mechanization and informationization, including the status and the role, the scale and the formation, the specialization and the division, the pattern and the institution of logistical support; secondly it analyzes and summarizes the logistical support and the features of the American army, the Russian army and the Japanese army, contending that the American army is featured by high technology as the reliance, strategic deliverance as the foundation, civil support as the assistance and global arrangement; on the part of the Russian army, in order to adapt to the need of national strategic transition under the current situation, its logistical support is featured by integrated coordination, information driving, modular grouping and normalization readiness; on the part of the Japanese army, in order to expand the functional area of its military power, it optimizes and reforms the system and the pattern of its logistical support according to the features of its land topography and the state of its military personnel, distinctively featured by integrated tri-service, all-directional mobility, combination with military efforts and civilian support; thirdly on the basis of summarizing and discoursing on some major practices and experience in terms of logistical support of foreign armies, the thesis combines the instances of warfare logistical support, dialectically points out some limitations of logistical support of foreign armies and comes to the important revelation beneficial to our army logistical construction and development drawn from logistical support of foreign armies. Fourthly, it integrates theory with practice and proposes strategies and suggestions on how to learn and consult the useful practices and experience of foreign armies in terms of logistical support in order to achieve great advances.
