Since the1990s, the impact of employee engagement on organizational successhas gradually received recognition and became the the focus of attention in thebusiness and management consulting practice. In the management field andconsulting practice, Employee engagement has received increasing attention, andrelevant practical researches have also confirmed its importance, but so far notheoretical system has taken shape. With the development of higher education and thereform of the education system in China, faculty engagement largely determines theservice quality of higher education and development prospects of universities.Studying on faculty engagement can measure the level of faculty engagement, exploreand verify the influencing factors of faculty engagement, so as to improve andenhance faculty engagement. Colleges and universities bear the function of talentcultivation, scientific research and social services etc., and to realize these functions, the key is to have high-quality faculty team.In this study, based on in-depth analysis of employee engagement theories andexisting scales, a specific scale and questionnaire was designed to measure facultyengagement. After reliability and validity tests of the questionnaire with data collected,a structural equation model of faculty engagement influencing factors was established, the verification and revision of this model was accomplished through the PLSalgorithm and finally, empirical results of faculty engagement influencing factorswere obtained.Next, the overall performance of faculties was evaluated from qualitativeanalysis and quantitative analysis with the employment of Multicriteria DecisionAnalysis Model. With the data collected, values of the overall faculty performancewere calculated and the hypothesis that faculty engagement would affect jobperformance was verified.Possible innovations of this study are mainly reflected in the following threeaspects:First, faculty engagement evaluation model in the Chinese context wasestablished and its relative measurement methods were also developed. In the paper, factors of faculty engagement were studied through literature review, and questionnaire investigation. And the the three constituent dimensions of facultyengagement-Job Involvement, Organizational Identification and Active Participation- were extracted through the employment of exploratory factor analysis method. Basedon that, the structural equation PLS model of faculty engagement was established andrelative methods and models were also developed to evaluate faculty engagement.Second, Multicriteria Decision Analysis Model was introduced to qualitativeevaluate and quantitative evaluate the overall performance of faculties. To evaluate the overall performance of faculties, Multicriteria Decision AnalysisModel was introduced in this study. This model can be adopted to comprehensivelyevaluate academic activities of teaching and learning, scientific research, socialservice between different disciplines.Through examples and empirical analysis, thefeasibility and effectiveness of this model evaluating faculty job performance wereverified.Third, influencing factors of faculty engagement and its relation with overall jobperformance were explored and verified.Four influential dimensions of faculty engagement were explored by exploratoryfactor analysis method. They were Job Characteristics, Payment and Welfare, Trainingand Development, Organizational Climate respectively. And a structural equation PLSmodel was built to verify them in the meantime.
