| Since1960s, the thought of teachers professionalization has formed a trend, and the topic has become one of the top issues in the education research area among Chinese scholars and teachers. Under the vision of professionalization, teachers should be able to preach professional knowledge, to give lessons and to work out solutions. Teachers are also spiritual supervisors, who are able to preach beliefs, to give lessons of humanity, and to work out the solutions of moral confusions. In the21st century, the professionalization of college counselors has again become an important topic in the higher education research area. The transformation of higher education at the turn of the century impels the subdivision of college teachers into academic faculty and students affairs staff. Under the complex subject of value in the modern market society, the dynamic values has resulted in a diversity of thoughts and value choices among the young college students. The internal division of profession and external education mission has pushed the role of college counselors, which is originally not as explicit, to the forefront of academic research. The professional evaluation of college counselors is not only the pursuit of the external tools value and technical rationality of professionalization, but also the appeal of professional moral values and ethics in essence. Theoretical research on profession ethics of college counselors or professional ethics are urgently needed to apply to the practice of college counselors professionalization.This paper selects the professional ethics of counselors in colleges as the object of research, under the vision of professionalization as a theoretical topic. The main logic is around the reason why professional ethics is needded in the professionalization of college counselors and the implication of professional ethics, as well as the occurrence of problems in the professionalization and the solutions through the process. The paper researches into the emergence, development and trend of professionalization of college counselors from the historical perspective, completes the academic analysis, comparative review of the theoretical basis and the concept of counselors professionalization, and explores the relationship between the professionalization and professional ethics of college counselors. The main research focuses on four parts, namely the research significance, the construction, the problems, and the solutions of professional ethics of college counselors. The paper also proposes some unique perspectives on the historic period dividing and concept summarization of counselors professionalization, and the academic support of counselors professional value, the components of counselors professional ethics and its problems and solutions. Through the theoretical research of professional ethics of college counselors, the paper intends to construct professional ethics that corresponding to the professionalization of counselors, in order to fulfill the mission of "the Cultivation of talents" with professional ethics theory and noble professional morals that would fit the pursuit of education’s ultimate value and the profession’s significance, and to achieve the counselors professional desire and moral idea in the education process. |
