As the education departments and uni\ersities attach greater importance to the professional construction of counselors by constantly strengthening the funding,staffing and institutionalizing,unprecedented progress has been made in terms of the professional construction of college counselor team.However,with the deepening of the reform of higher education,the work of college counselors is becoming more and more specialized in different fields,thus putting forward higher professional requirements for the construction of the counselor team.At present,many problems still exist in the construction of college counselor team and they are exemplified by a messy professional structure,unclear division of responsibilities and vague job requirements,reflecting a lack of specialized division of labor and professional development which is incompatible with the trends of professionalization of counselors' work.By researching the current situation and development trend of professionalization of counselor's work and drawing experience from overseas universities regarding the management of student affairs,the study has analyzed the relations between the professionalization of counselors' work and the specialty structure,job responsibilities,job requirements as well as work system so as to offer suggestions for the professional and expert-oriented development of the college counselor team.The main points of this paper are as follows:1.The work of college counselor has gradually undergone specified development and it has been further divided into the following professional fields of mental health education and counseling,employment and entrepreneurship guidance,the Party's construction and so on,and therefore new requirements are put forward as to the professional knowledge and competence of college counselors.2.Talents with professional backgrounds should be recruited according to the professional qualities and abilities required by posts of counselors in different professional fields and they can be further classified in accordance with their professional interests and aptitudes.3.And relevant training on professional qualities and competence should be provided to counselors in various fields to ensure the expert-oriented development.4.Administrators in charge of students' affairs in overseas universities are few in number but they possess a highly professional background and moreover specialized courses of students' affairs management are established with talents majoring in those courses cultivated in the universities,which serves as a role model for universities in our country to follow with regard to the system and model of students' affairs management in universities.5.According to the various functions of counselors' work,the existing administrative management system of the "university—college" model should be reformed and the "flat type" of counselors,work system which is university-specialty centered should be reconstructed based on the criteria of the professional field.
