At present, China’s new-generation rural-urban migrants are experiencing social exclusion in urban cities. They can neither enjoy public services provided for urban citizens, nor finding an appropriate way to communicate with urban citizens.Based on research methods of literature review, case studies, and classification and comparison, this paper focused on sport activities of China’s new-generation rural-urban migrants and discussed the following three questions:(1) Can sport activities be used to promote social inclusion of China’s new-generation rural-urban migrants? (2) At present, what challenges will we encounter when using sport activities as a tool for the social inclusion of rural-urban migrants? (3) What changes should we make to ensure that the inclusive characteristics of sports take effect in China? The main points of this paper include:1. Sport activities can be used as a tool to promote social inclusion of China’s rural-urban migrants. Participating in well-organized sport activities help them expand social network, increase social and human capital, and accelerate the socialization process. In addition, reciprocal actions in sports provide a good inter-group interactive platform for rural-urban migrants and urban citizens.2. Given the policy environment and material resources, using sports for the social inclusion of rural-urban migrants in China is practically feasible. However, necessary adjustments need to be made in terms of sports concept, policies and regulations, resources, organization and management, and innovation mechanism.3. Due to the complex characteristics and differentiated sport demands of rural-urban migrants, public sector, voluntary sector, and private sector need to be united through the public sport service system to provide inclusive sport activities for rural-urban migrants.4. Using sports for social inclusion of rural-urban migrants should be considered during the construction of China’s public sport services, and changes need to be made to ensure that the goal be achieved successfully:(1) attach great importance to the social function of sports; (2) enable sport organizations to provide sport activities for rural-urban migrants; (3) transfer the bureaucratic sport organizational structure to a flat and networked one, and change the management process from "process driven" to "result-driven"...
