The Research On The Education Of College Students’ Political Identity Under The Background Of Multi-culture In China

China’s culture has showed great development and prosperity since the reform and opening up. The mainstream culture of socialism, Chinese traditional culture, western culture and the new born culture merge together. College students are the elite and pioneer group. In modern times, the training goal of China’s higher education is cultivating the builders and successors of the socialist cause. But under the multicultural background, college students’ political identity is profoundly affected by various cultural factors. Multi-culture has impacted their ideology and political beliefs, so it is imperative to strengthen the college students’ political identity education.The methodology of this research is theoretical analysis, empirical analysis and historical analysis. Starting from the mechanism of political identity, this thesis analyzes the current situation of college students’ political identity and explores the countermeasures to strengthen college students’ political identity education. The main body of the thesis consists of five chapters: the education and cultivation of college students’ political identity, the theoretical resources of college students’ political identity, Chinese Communist Party’s historical investigation and experience summary on the young students’ political identity education, the analysis of the current situation of College Students’ political identity, and the strategy analysis of promoting college students’ political identity education under multicultural background.In this thesis, political identity is often regarded as individual psychological attachment to the political system and political rights, which is a kind of political attitudes, beliefs, political emotion, and an important cohesive force to unite social members. The political identity of college students refers to their subjective cognition and attribution to the legitimacy of the political system. Their political identity has internal and external mechanism of its existence and generation. College students’ political identity education refers that the education body utilizes certain political theory, political idea and political value standard to systematically influence college students so that they can form some education practice activities in accordance with the requirements of the political system and political identity. The cultivation of college students’ political identity regards college as the main body. In collaboration with family and society, college utilizes various ways and means to systematically affect the college students, inducing them to develop the right process of political identity. Education is the means and process of cultivation, while cultivation of the purpose and result of education. The political identity education of college students can draw theoretical resources from Marx’s ideology theory, human all-round social development theory, the theory of communication, political science and political identity theory, sociology and psychology, etc.The political identity education of the young students has experienced a number of stages. Founded during the period of new China to reform and opening up, explored in initial stages of reform and opening-up, developed under the market economy, adjusted and overall developed in the new century, it forms a series of historic experience, including cultivating a string of qualified builders and reliable successors, unswervingly using Marx doctrine to educate college students, continuously promoting the reform of ideological and political theory course, actively building campus culture which is conducive to college students’ political identity education, continuously improving college students’ political identity education methods, strengthening the students’ political identity education leadership and management etc.Multi-culture influences college students’ political identity, the form and contents of education for political identity, and their identity on educational objectives of political identity education. In a multicultural context, to promote college students’ political identity education and development, firstly the objectives and principles of college students’ political identity education must be established. The objectives of college students’ political identity education are made up of four progressive levels, namely, to form and consolidate the identity for the CPC’s in-power, cultivate and maintain the identity for socialism with Chinese characteristics, to be the spreaders for the identity of politics of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the constructers and successors of affairs of China’s characteristics socialism. The political identity education should follow the principles of directivity, humanism, inherence, use of reference, effectiveness and so on. Secondly the macro strategy of college students’ political identity education should be established, mainly leading the direction of political identity education by “three confidences”, improving the theoretical level of Marxism, eliminating the influences of various wrong social ideological trends, continuously promoting the development of political economy in China, to create conditions for political identity education. The specific countermeasures of college students’ political identity education include promoting the content deepening and optimization of mode for college students’ political identity education, expanding the channels and ways of college students’ political identity education, innovating the carrier and platform for college students’ political identity education and optimizing the environment for college students’ political identity education.
