The southeast of Chongqing is the area where minority peoples live in compact communities in Chongqing with rich Tujia and Hmong culture.This area faces to not only contradiction between economic development and environmental protection but also contradiction between influence by Han culture and its cultural protection. Influenced by Han culture seriously, challenge of protection is severe.The minority education is an important part to develop culture, so it should insist on the concept of people-orientation. But, actually, it is confronted with some cultural selection, such as tradition or modernism, mainstream or diversity and imported or native. Combining minority culture with its education is essential to cultural development in the southeast of Chongqing as well as development of its education quality.The Cultural Symbiosis Theory is a result of setting ideas of symbiosis into culture, which is a traditional view. As globalization and reformation occurs, abundant connotation of this theory, which consists of diversity, complementarity, irreversibility, innovativeness and contemporaneity, provides an original standpoint for us theoretically and a way of hcombining minority culture with its education in the southeast of Chongqing in practice.From the view of cultural symbiosis, the significance of minority education hasn’t deserved the attention it should have. Inharmonious in needs, inconformity in appeal, inaptness in aims and connotation and inversion in ways make education development fall behind.These existing troubles, on the one hand, cause barriers in inheritance and innovation of the Tujia and Hmong culture; on the other hand, lack the minority education of its due ethnic characteristics, block the advancement of our minority education and characteristic economy and culture. The situation is caused by complex reasons concerning culture, education and economy in the ethnic regions, such as the weakness of ethnic culture against the modern culture, the weakness of ethnic culture when it comes to supporting the minority education, and the inaction of school education in terms of ethnic culture education, the ignorance of our society and families to ethnic culture education, what’s more, low profits and difficult operation.To make macroscopic decision, we should construct the minority education in the southeast Chongqing should insist on the people-orientation concept and harmony in diversity. We should coordinate the ethnic culture education with the economic and cultural development, make the school, family and community work together, cater to the principle of containment in the ethnic culture and education culture, and identify limited responsibilities of the school in the ethnic culture education contributing to the cultural symbiosis. We should identify the responsibilities of the government, school and teachers while advancing the ethnic culture education. What’s more, we have to switch our concept, goal, approach and process from alienation to combination, grades to improvement, training to enlightenment, static to dynamic.Based on the cultural symbiosis, we could try to construct the minority education in the southeast Chongqing on five aspects. First, regard the cultural symbiosis as the guiding. That is, we should reconstruct the awareness of ethnic culture and education, emphasize the importance of ethnic-culture education and make it to be cultural heritage. Second, proceed to bring about reformation on classes and textbooks, clarify the aim and obey the rules of education.Third, guarantee the quality and enough quantity of teachers, which call for an organization to assemble the teachers and supply training Forth, make it mechanism. Build it, improve it and innovate for better. Furthermore, it is significant to perfect the policy. For instance, emphasize the government’s leading and the importance of school and family and fund a fund for ethnic-culture education. Last but not the least, enhance the amelioration’s progress of legislation and policy of ethnic culture education, including pushing forward the construction of legislation, building up the sane public administration system and standing out the main role of school in development of ethnic culture education. At the same time, improve the expenditure efficiency of ethnic culture education, set up the special project to promote the cultural symbiosis and so on.The ethnic culture education takes upon the duty of promoting the cultural symbiosis and a better external environment is also in demand. Thus, we should strengthen efforts to propaganda and create more resources for education, such as building theme parks and museums and printing more related books. Hold activities to create an atmosphere in the southeast Chongqing. Put ethic-culture into native economy activities, so as to improve tourism by recruiting volunteers, encouraging businessmen to shoulder their responsibilities and encouraging civics to take part, the cooperation achieves.The cultural symbiosis is certain as time goes by. It is difficult for the southeast Chongqing to find a suitable way to improve the ethnic-culture education and fulfill its mission to make ethic-culture alive among the diversity cultural shock.
