Since the reform and opening up, also with the rise of market economy and subjectivity philosophy, the problem of the subject and object has become a hit in ideological and political education. The essence of the problem is to use the philosophical theory of subject and object to analyze and explain the relationship between ideological and political educators and educatees, so as to resolve conflicts between them and to improve the effectiveness of ideological and political education. However, the problem itself is a philosophical problem. When it is applied to ideological and political education, it arises some problems, controversies, and even disorders. Based on the research status over thirty years, this thesis sorts out the development history of the theory, and analyzes different kinds of views about theoretical bases and features of prototype theories by using the method of dialectical materialism and historical materialism. And on these bases, this thesis studies and compares the meaning of subject and object in the perspective of philosophy, in order to clarify the transform of the subject and object theory in political and ideological education, and to analyze various standpoint on this field. The ultimate aim is to take Marxism as a guide and make a clear distinction between the Marxist education and previous education. Furthermore I will put forward my comments and suggestions for the development of this theory.The thesis consists of three parts, introduction, body and conclusion.The introduction is mainly about the origin, significance, research methods, focuses, difficulties and research approaches. Meanwhile, I’ve made a comprehensive and systematical summary on the research status of the theory about subject and object on ideological and political education, and raised some questions which help lay the root for the theory study.The body is divided into five chapters. The first chapter explores the history on subject and object of ideological and political education. From that perspective, the study of the problem could be divided into three stages:initial formation, the development period and the golden ages. This classification helps us to understand the theory more clearly. The second chapter analyzes the lateral views on the theory of the ideological and political education. To sum up, there are three main views,"single body" theory,"double body" and "inter-subjective theory". During different periods, the three theories have different status, but they all exist whether the effect is strong or weak. Three views all explain the relationship between the ideological and political educators and educatees, but stressed on different points. One stresses on educators, another emphasizes educatees, and the other underlines both. Chapter Three focuses on the background, the way and the impact on subject and object of ideological and political education, so as to make others understood the objective and subjective factors, the necessity, possibility and the impact of the theory. The fourth chapter explores the origin meaning of some concepts in the theory, which aiming at picking up the changes of the concepts, finding the problems and avoiding all kinds of bias and confusion. It also helps to understand the essential relationship between educators and educatees. The fifth chapter analyzes and evaluates the theory by using Marxist theory for its sustainable development.Finally, it comes to the conclusion, which includes the analyses on the uncovering problems and the prospects on the development of the theory. Besides, I am eager to conduct further research in future study.
