| In order to cultivate all-round athletic talents in China, it is necessary to cultivate them in universities, which is not only beneficial to the sustainable development of universities and competitive sports but promotes the reform and innovation of athletic talents as well.This study takes a new look at the cultivation of athletic talents in China’s universities by thoroughly applying the Scientific Outlook on Development. It is based on such methods as literatures, interview, questionnaires, field investigation as well as case study. To begin with, this dissertation analyses institutions and the development of culturing athletic talents in universities of China and America. In addition, it researches such factors as human recourse, internal and external environment, management system and cultivating mode involved in the cultivation process. Moreover, this study provides theoretical and practical foundation for forming a virtuous cycle of cultivating athletic talents in universities as well as for sustainable development of China’s competitive sports and universities’competitive sports. The conclusion of this study as follows:1. At present, competitive sports in China’s universities, administrated by Ministry of Education and General Administration of Sport, is experiencing the development phrase. The management of our country’s universities needs to be reformed as well as improved.2. The cultivation of athletic talents in China’s universities has experienced the initiation phase and the development phase. Currently, it is at the reformation phase and manifests some existing problems such as the cultivation of athletic talents in China’s universities develops unequally, the proportion of universities that cultivate the athletic talents in the total number of universities is very low, and the distribution is uneven, which means that those universities are distributed mainly in prominent universities and in the more developed regions. 3. High-level sports teams lead the development of competitive sports in universities. In the past20years, the cultivation of athletic talents in universities has made remarkable achievements but there still exists some problems. China’s universities should regard the Scientific Outlook on Development as a guideline to developing competitive sports.4. The cultivation of athletic talents is a long-term and systematical project. Universities not only function as a crucial conjunction in the chain of cultivating athletic talents but also as the best joint between competitive sports and higher education. Even though universities has abundance of various software resources and hardware resources which is beneficial to the cultivation of athletic talents, while there is still a long way to go before they can fully bear the responsibilities of cultivating athletic talents.5. The benefit of cultivating athletic talents will promote a diverse system which is oriented to cultivate athletic talents in universities and colleges. The dual-system that combines sports system and education system is one of the critical factor which constraints the development of athletic talents in universities. This dual-system is a double-edged sword. At present, the key point of the structural transformation of competitive sports is to accelerate the reform of the athletic talents cultivation system and mechanism system, especially the competition system.6. The cultivation of athletic talents in our country’s universities should transform the traditional ideas and establish the correct competitive sports values. Right now, the mode of cultivating athletic talents in universities are diverse and based on their own situations different universities apply myriads of cultivating mode such as a mode that combines sports and education, an integrated mode, university-enterprise cooperation mode and so on. It constructed the mode in this dissertation that based on universities can embody the diverse and multiple characters of the cultivation of athletic talents in our country’s universities. |
