The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between athlete functional strength and its impact on skill performance.Six Chinese 20 km Olympic racewalkers were tested by three tests—the EMG examination was the test on core muscles lower limb muscles during they were walking in different velocity, the isokinetic muscles test was on the trunk and low limb at the speed of 30 os-1、60 os-1 and 300o s-1,the Qualisys test was kinematical test, according to this test we got the information about joints angular displacement during walking. In the study we analyzed(a) what is athletic functional strength and its features.(b) core muscles functional features and its impact on racewalking.(c) low limb muscles’ strength imbalance features and its impact on racewalking technique.(d) the coordination between quadriceps and biceps femoris and its impact on racewalking technique.(e) what is the relationship between our racewalker’s functional strength and their strength training. The results revealed(a) functional strength is a kind of strength that can keeps body balance and stable during movement.(b) core muscles have a ability to keep trunk stable;the core muscles activities have a relationship with body center of gravity displacement.(c) low limb muscles strength is imbalance and this imbalance results in the diffence on joints displacement.(d) the coordination exists between quadricep and biceps femoris and their relationship has impact on knee angle.(e) our racewalkers’ functional strength features insult from their strength training,so functional strength training should be recommended to our elite racewalkers for their strength training.
