In recent years, with the value of basketball increasing rapidly all over the world, the level of competition of basketball also getting higher and higher with the development of basketball. However, wishes of getting good grades cannot achieve if just relying on traditional training method, it has been a difficult for athletes to break through their physical abilities and practical abilities, thus a more efficiency and effective training methods are needed for athletes training.Based on this background information, the author trying to find a better way to improve the physical fitness of basketball players. Core strength training is a new training method in recent years, it focus on physical training of core parts, including spine, pelvis, and the vicinity of the muscle group. This training aim at improving the physical stability, coordination ability and other physical functions.This paper adopt the method of literature, mathematical statistics, experimental, logical analysis and other methods, selected 20 students from the Liaoning Sports Vocational and Technical College as examples, they were divided into two group and separately experimented the core strength training and traditional strength training, in terms to do the group controlled experiment. And according to the level of the two groups before and after the training, tested the stability, sensitivity, hit number and hit rate. At the same time, with using Excel and SPSS statistical software, analyzed the test results of the two groups of students, and try to find out if there is significantly different between two training methods. The main conclusions are as follows: 1. Adopted the students of basketball team from Liaoning Sports Vocational and Technical College as research subjects. This eight-week research summarized comprehensive and reasonable core strength training methods, and deepened the theories of core strength training as empirical study. This research provide reference and guidance of core strength training on basketball physical fitness training, and also advancing the development and improvement of physical functions and skills of basketball athletes. 2. Compared to traditional strength training. core strength training will help players have a significantly improvement on physical functions. 3. Through trained core strength, it leads a positive effects on physical stability, sensitively, coordination ability and thought change ability in matches. Core Strength training have a big improvement on basketball players’ physical functions and physical confrontations, and let athletes have a better control on bodies, gravity, flexibility and malleability.
