Burnout as a psychological state of athlete won more attention. Burnout issue related research was more, causal research was less; survey research was more, psychophysiology research was less. Therefore, this Thesis was to carry out five experiments to explore cause-effect relationships of burnout and other fatigue forms like physical fatigue and mental fatigue, regarding burnout and other fatigue forms as independent variables, regarding operational performances, event-related potential (ERP) components and heart rate variability (HRV) indexes as dependent variables. Meanwhile, to investigate the applicability of ERP and HRV as detection means of burnout.Study 1:From the result of S-R perspective, physical fatigue group, mental fatigue group, burnout group and control group completed non-emotional stimuli classification (signal detection task) and emotional stimuli classification (emotional valence decision task) to explore whether burnout was as a kind of fatigue form other than physical fatigue and mental fatigue or not. The burnout group compared with control group showed no statistically significantly differences in sensitivity d’response criterionβ, correct response accuracy and correct response reaction time. However, in the emotional picture valence judgments task, the burnout group demonstrated changes in operational performances with statistically significant differences, meanwhile physical fatigue group and mental fatigue group got other different results. Thess results suggested that the burnout was not likely to affect the operation of non-emotional stimulus classification but the emotional stimulus classification operation.Study 2:From the procession of S-R perspective, the same tasks as study 1 had been used, the purpose was to detect statistically significantly differences of burnout/non-burnout and athlete burnout/non-athlete burnout in ERP components. These two experiments selected the nine classical electrodes (F3, Fz, F4, C3, Cz, C4, P3, Pz, P4) and the ERP components latency, N2 peak/latency and LPC (400-600ms) average a Experiment 1 results showed that burnout/group/non-burnout group and athlete burnout group/non-athlete burnout group had no statistically significant differences in all selected ERP components. Experiment 2 results showed that athlete burnout group/non-athlete burnout group had statistically significant differences in LPC (400-600ms) average amplitude, however, non-athlete group whether burnout or not had no statistically significant differences in LPC average amplitude. The results of study 2 suggested burnout state could likely affecte emotional stimuli classification processing.Study 3:From the perspective of autonomic nervous system activity, the purpose was used HRV indexes (RMSSD, pNN50, LF, HF, LF/HF) to explore the sympathetic/parasympathetic interaction in different burnout group in baseine period-stress period-recovery period. The results showed that all the indexes were able to distinguish between athlete group and non-athlete group. In recovery period, LF/HF of non-athlete group whether burnout or not detected the statistically significantly differences. These results suggested non-athlete burnout might be existed different internal activities of autonomic nervous system.The conclusions were as follows:1、Burnout was as a kind of fatigue different from physical fatigue and mental fatigue. Burnout state could affect the emotional stimuli classification processing.2、Athlete burnout state belonged to burnout state. Athlete burnout like non-athlete burnout state could also affect the emotional stimuli classification processing.3、In the emotional stimulation classification, LPC (400-600ms) average amplitude detected the athlete burnout; LF/HF detected the non-athlete burnout in recovery period. Therefore, ERP and HRV could be respectively as detection means used to distinguish athlete burnout and non-athlete burnout.
