Aimed at solving the complicated geological conditions and supporting difficulties ofcoal roadway in Shanxi coking coal group, surrounding rock stability classification andsupporting of coal roadway were systematically studied. Through SPSS frequencyanalysis method, the eleven classification indices were determined, and the geneticneural network classification model was established, which was trained and tested by asample database with one hundred coal roadway data. The physical experiment modelwas established to deeply analyze the coal roadway destructive instable mechanism andthe effect of strong sidewall and corner supporting; the mechanical responses after coalroadway excavation and the effect of rock bolt parameters were researched bynumerical simulation; the destruction and reinforcement mechanism of coal roadwaysidewall was theoretically analyzed, then the concept design of protecting the roof bystrong sidewall was proposed, based on this, the strong sidewall and corner supportingtheory of coal roadway was put forward. Under the guidance of the strong sidewall andcorner supporting theory, the three-step design method for coal roadway supporting wasproposed, as the supporting parameters of five type coal roadways were studied, therespectively supporting parameters was summarized, good supporting effects hadobtained according to field applications.
