The Study Of Contemporary Chinese Urban Order

At the beginning the thesis defined the basic concepts of urban order to explain urbanorder, which aspects should be studied and discussed about urban order. Then thethesis, with the start of contemporary Chinese urban order problems, clarified andexplored the evolution of China’s ancient tradition of the inner city of order andregularity, exploring the Chinese tradition thoughts culture, with comparingcharacteristics of different regions of the city and importing the introduction ofcontemporary European countries urban order related research. In this thesis the maintechnical route was that the past serves the present and the West learning for Chinese.In the end this thesis summarized and compared the evolution of urban order stage,the characteristics of different phases and the elements of urban order change. And onthe basis of above this paper expounded the basic principles of contemporary Chineseurban order and proposed contemporary Chinese urban order reconstruction strategybased on the basic principles.This paper has three main innovations as followed:Firstly, the thesis defined the concept of urban order. In this paper, the urban orderreferred to the regularity of urban development laws, including the city’s basic form,the inherent logic of the city and the city’s structural relevance. The urban order needsto defined from different levels based on the complexity of the city: from themorphological level, the urban order referred to the city’s shape, zoning and corestructure; from an ecological level, it referred to the size of the city, outside the city onthe natural environment attitude and approach; from human level, it referred to thecity’s system, culture and space ethics; from life level, it referred to the organizationof different functional spaces in the city from a public to a private living space; fromthe area level, it referred to the city level sequence, urban and regional functionsdivision and collaboration infrastructure construction and environmental protectionmode.Secondly, the thesis summarized and compared the evolution of urban order stage, thecharacteristics of different phases and the elements of urban order change. Also this paper expounded the basic principles of contemporary Chinese urban order on thebasis of above. The thesis stated the process of urban order, comparing the elementschanges of different stage, regions, cultures, ideological, and contemporary urbanorder from the morphological order, ecological order, humanities order, life order,regional level five aspects. And further this paper expounded the basic principle ofcontemporary Chinese urban order by levels, mainly from the ecological order,cultural order, life order and the regional order.Thirdly, the thesis proposed the reconstruction strategies of contemporary Chineseurban order with the establishment of contemporary urban order framework based onthe basic principles of contemporary urban order, from the ecological order,humanities order, life order and regional order four levels. Reconstruction of the city’secological order included three aspects which were urban-scale eco-defined, urbanlandscape interactions with the outside, and the city’s natural ecology inside.Reconstruction of the city’s cultural order also included three aspects which wereurban governance under the space ethics, the integration of urban spirit, function andforms, and the protection and continuation of urban context. Reconstruction the city’slife order included three aspects which were layout of urban functions basedpeople-oriented, urban different public space shaping, and the humane urban spatialscales. Reconstruction of the city’s regional order included four aspects which were averitable city hierarchical sequence, the city functions divisions in network system,urban development forms comprehensively, and the public infrastructureconstructions with ecological environment protections under the regionalcoordination.
