This paper mainly through a comprehensive description of thepreposition “Yu（于）”, based on the diachronic and synchronic each other, trying todraw up the evolution model of “Yu”, explore the evolution and mechanism, showthe diversity of the preposition “Yu”evolutionary consequences.First of all, we teased basic properties and usage of the preposition“Yu”,headstream and history of these usages are described. The preposition“Yu”inaddition to use introduce function outside, also developed some atypicalprepositions: introduce the comparison object, introduce the agentive role,introduce related object. In addition, we also pay attention to the frame usage of“Yu”as well as the adverbial parallel formation and usage of“Yu X1Yu X2”.Secondly, we depicted on the Yu’s combination evolution o“fX+Yu”, heremainly refers to“ShuYu（属于）”,“ShanYu（善于）”and other“X Yu”verbs boundingwith object, by establishing the identification standard, we defined the scope ofmodern Chinese verbs bounding with object, and exhaustive list of “X Yu”verbsbounding with object. At the same time, we also analyzed in conjunction-prepositionword“YouYu（由于）”. In addition, we also explore the preposition “GuanYu、DuiYu、ZhiYu（关于、对于、至于）”and the functions of discourse markers. The formationof “X Yu”words is the results of“X+Yu”lexicalization from cross layered structure.Then, we also studied the phrases and vocabulary of combination “Yu+X”, and the adverb“YuJin（于今）”, conjunction“YuSh（i于是）”, structure“XXYuX”,idioms “XYuXX”,"V YuX" as a case, studied the diachronic, synchronic characteristicsand development trend.“YuX”words and phrases as well as affixation, cliticization,zero pronouns, both mechanisms incorporated, also have the effect ofdecategorization.Finally, based on the analysis of the case, the preposition “Yu”evolutionpattern, causes and consequences of diversity are summarized, refining. Thedevelopment trend of“Yu”and other prepositions are analyzed and predicted.
