A Study On College Student Management System

As an internal structure of Chinese higher education system, college student managementsystem is the basic content of modern university system in Chinese characteristic socialism aswell as an important institutional guarantee to enhance the higher educational quality in Chinaand to cultivate the qualified constructors and reliable successors for Chinese characteristicsocialism. The Party and the State always pay much attention to establishing and improvingthe college student management system which adapts to China’s political, economic andsocial development. Since the foundation of New China in1949, Chinese college studentmanagement system higher education system has started and developed on the basis of theabolition of the old system, going through the historical stages of the initial shaping, beingdestroyed, resuming and so on. Since reform and opening up, especially after the Party andthe State carried out the strategies of “ruling the country by law” and “strengthening thecountry through talents”, the Party and the State has developed and introduced a series ofinstitutional norms which cover every field of college student management. Gradually collegestudent management system with Chinese characteristic socialism has been made and coversnational, local and higher educational systems. The system was based on Higher EducationAct (1999) and Student Administration Rules in General Senior Schools (2005) and it. All inall, this system made a significant contribution to developing and deepening the highereducation reform, establishing and perfecting modern higher education system, guaranteeingand promoting the overall growth of college students. However, with the development oftimes and the new changes of higher education, the current higher education studentmanagement system is faced with new challenges and needs new thinking and rules.This paper, making the higher education system as the research object, mainly discussesthe basic theory, classification, historical development, operation situation and developingand perfecting of college student management. In the part of basic theory, the writer exploresthe concept, functions, principles, theoretical support, the prerequisite question of ideologicaland political education in the college student management system; in the classification part,the writer divides the theory of college student management system into two dimensions-horizontal and vertical; in the part of historical development, the writer dates back to thebeginning, forming, reforming and developing of the college student management systemsince the foundation of New China and summarizes the essential features and implications ofthe formation and development of college student management system; in the part ofoperation situation, the writer gives a general evaluation from the whole and specificdimensions and puts forward main problems and real bottlenecks; in the part of developingand perfecting, the writer explores and puts forward the concept selection, value dimensionand implementation path of college student management system, makes a generalconstruction for the improvement of college student management system from basicrequirements and system design and finally refines the innovative opinions by setting the scholarship system and the punishment system as the examples.
